Shave my balls, bigot!

I can't speak for Eddie Izzard, but there seems to be a growing concern in the 'woke' media that people who consider themselves 'Cross-dressers' or 'Transvestites' have been forcibly subsumed into the 'Trans' culture - leaving them without a voice and being cast out of the discussion. There is a very good article on spiked on this subject: https://www.spiked-online.com/2018/12/10/transgenderism-a-fetish-that-got-out-of-hand/

Its pretty obvious that Eddie is transgender, the word literally means someone whose gender identity differs from the sex the person had or was identified as having at birth. I guess there is a little confusion because it's more often then not someone who identifies with the opposite sex than they were born with.

I'm sure everyone can agree he (or she as Eddie is happy with both) is trans, lol.

It's not obvious because Eddie as no intention of changing genders, thats why he's not transgender. He just likes dressing up in womens clothes.

I think people are mixing up word meanings. Transgender means that the person as started to make a transition between one gender to another. Someone who just likes dressing up in womens clothes doesn't imply they want to change their gender.

I'd consider it insulting to class someone who just likes dressing up in womens clothes to someone else who has body dysmorphia, and is going through intense therapy, and eventually wants surgical operations to remove and change sex organs. Transvestitism and transgenderism are totally different things.

Earlier in the thread people asked me why I think Izzard was peer pressured in to changing the phrase he has used for nearly 30 years. I was being charitable of his motives for changing. A cynical person might say he is another trying to jump on the transgender bandwagon to get more attention.

Heterosexual men have sex with women, gay men have sex with men. Didn't you get the memo?
So you have to be there when they are having sex to know! Got it! xD

Except that doesn't work. In the case of Autogynephilia and Transgenderism for example it can be very difficult to tell the difference without solid psychological testing which involves asking some pretty specific questions.

So, you agree? Ask them?

No I don't agree. You are missing the point - deliberately or not I can't tell.

Asking a person is objectively not the same as psychological evaluation. If it was we wouldn't need psychiatrists to diagnose mental illness - people would just know they had issues and could tell you, which of course is patently false.

Why is it a cop out, why do you need to know how people's sexuality or how they identify when you meet them? Doesn't matter does it?

Now you are moving the goalposts by changing the context.

I asked a specific, objective question 'how do you tell the difference between a Transvestite, a Transgender, someone into autogynephilia?' I said nothing about how do they identify and I set no context around meeting them.

If you don't know the answer to the question, just say so. I'll respect that honesty more than your evasion.

When I said "ask them" did I state how? Then you say one of the ways is to ask them?

Okay, okay.... objectively speaking... How do you know your partner is telling the truth if you asked them how many people they have slept with? You don't. I mean, okay, it is well known that many women say less then they have but, meh, we all know to add a third onto the answer don't we?

Anyway, lots of simple questions do get simple answers that are very often the truth, just ask.

And.. I think the difference between Autogynephilia and Transgenderism is a bit difficult anyway......or not? Depends how you look at it. One has to do with sexuality which may not even involve wearing female clothing, and the other does not exclusively have to involve sexuality at all really.

The tricksy part is, you know how you a man can feel sexy being a man? Nice suit, smelling good, best pants on etc.... or a woman can feel sexy being a woman? Nice dress, smelling good, best underware on etc. If you are a biological male, but fancy yourself as a female, and then you put their clothes on an whoosh! You feel sexy. Coz nice dress, smelling good, best underware on etc... So can you see how the two could merge into one a little?
