Shaving, getting it right

I generally shave downwars on my face and upwards from the neck to the jaw.

I did however go against grain the other week and my god what a close shave felt lovely, beard still grew back just as quick, my beard grows back really quick which is annoying, as i never have enough time to shave in the morning.

Neither do I. It takes me quite a while too... the post above mine says 10 mins in bed, but it takes me at least 15 mins to do it.

Could anyone give me any tips on how to get a close shave on the cheek-chin part of my face? :)

I have always shaved against the grain around my neck, shaving adams apple to chin. I usually shave from hair to chin (with the grain) on my face though, although sometimes I shave against the grain there too. I must have mans skin as I only ever wet shave (sometimes even dry) and dont get any form of rash or pain.

Interestingly I have only ever cut myself once whilst shaving and that was when I was distracted.

Shaving foam is for girls! :p

I was going to say... how on earth can we take advise on shaving from a man who is like a walking advertisment for designer stubble. Do you shave with a cheese slice or something? :p

I hate shaving

Muslim?

My perfect formula is to use a little menthol KoS oil on warm skin whilst still in the shower. Then apply Gilette nitro gel to face.

While you're getting yourself dried, the gel will be working on your hairs nicely. Then take Mach 3 nitro, shave in both directions where required. If you cut yourself, ur gay.

Then wash first with warm water to cleanse and then straight after cold to close the pores :) Job done, no cuts and no spots.

Hey! I do shave from time to time... ok it's with an axe but it still counts :p

Get lots of hot water on your face as hot as you can stand it! Apply good quality shaving foam (i use l'oreal), nice and think and massage it in for a a minute or 2. Then shave down my face and neck first, followed by an upward shave after, continously washing the blades with the hot water. Once complete then turn the hot water off and get the cold water on, nice and cold water all over face! Then pat dry with a towell and apply a good moisturiser (i use clinique post shave healer).

Job done!

Sounds a bit queer to me. Moisturiser? Massage your foam into your face for a minute or two?

Not for me.

Run hot water into sink whilst putting foam on face. Shave face whilst washing hair and foam off in sink. Empty sink, splash cold water on face.

What is up with all these recommendations? Every face is different and everyone's hair growth is different. It might not be symmetrical either, so study your face and go with the grain first. Then across if you want closer, followed by against for maximum closeness. Try a safety razor too if you're not happy with the cost and/or performance of cartridge razors.

lol it's funny reading all the posts with people trying to be all manly; "OMFG moisturiser? be a man and use your urine" etc. Shaving can be a art if you want it to be, there's forums dedicated to it :) .
