Shaving

Yeah, I recommend Feather blades.

I'm a Feather fan myself. Very sharp. You need to be careful with them but if you enjoy taking your time, you'll find it hard to get a closer shave. Some people find that they get cut up very easy with Feather blades but they have sissy girly skin.

I think taking your time is the best advice.
I've been using my Merkur HD now for a couple of weeks and shaving has become an enjoyable.
There's so much to learn from creating the lather, the angle of the shave and the direction of the passes. I can see why people call it a hobbie.

I'm currently using Derby Extras but got some Feathers in the sample pack. Once I'm happy with my technique then I'll give them a go

Shaved my sack earlyer in the year.

MY GOD IT WAS ICHY! Its got so irritted, It was ichy for a week, Then it was painfull when i scrathced due to the hair coming back. Then it was just painfull due to a fe infected/ingrown hairs!

I regularly shave my sack and with a de razor; never had any problems.

Every few days

Use a Gilette Mach 3 or a Gilette Fusion. The Mach 3 is better if you have a bit of a beard, but the Fusion gives a closer shave.

Oooo...... Never head of electric trimmers? lol I'd never take a blade to my *cough* ballbag..!!

Just a quick trim if you're either on a promise or ya girl is horny...!! :D Why, why would you want to totally shave your nutsack? That's a very sensitive part of the human body, its bad enough for some shaving their upper neck, chin area.... Shaving the old man, and sack - Oooooo yep itchy..

I don't have the balls to bring a blade to my cash and prizes. :(

I was also wondering if someone could recommened me a brush/soap or cream or whatever setup as I honestly have no idea what to buy. The razor and blades, sure, but as far as which ones to go for? No idea.

Oh, and I have
sissy girly skin.
But that's 'cause I'm a young' un.

I recently got a Merkur 39C and love it. I was brave and decided I could handle the slant despite it being my first DE. As it turns out I can get a very close shave and it's great :). I'm still on the Merkur blades which came with it but I keep seeing people recommending Derby's. I don't think a slant and feathers will be good for my skin though :o.

Costs £20 less than the puffs pay and does the same job. ;)

I've just got a cheap brush, an Edwin Jagger, for £23, and I got a shaving mug to go with it for making my latherin.

Most will recommend Truefitt & Hill or Taylor of Bond Street Avocado is supposed to be good, but I like Proraso for that refreshing clean feeling.

It’s all down to personal choice really.

I love Truefitt & Hill's selection of creams, especially their 1805 smell. I buy the pots which cost £15. Obviously a lot more than your Gillette cans but these last me months. They also do smaller tubes if you don’t want as much.

As I’ve mentioned before badger and blade is a really good site and they have user reviews most creams and soaps.

Brush wise, they come generally in three different grades.

Silver tip
Super Badger
Best Badger

Best badger is actually the worst despite its name. Silvertip can run up to the £100's

Try and go for a super badger brush if money allows, but if you are just starting out then I don’t suppose it will matter a great deal. You will also need a bowl for whipping up a nice thick lather.

That is a piece of crap. It is made from cheap plastic and has no weight in it at all which means you need to apply pressure to it. This results in a butchered face. A well weighted razor needs no pressure applied to it at all.

every week, i simply cba.

i look like tom hanks in castaway towards the end of every week, starting to get use to it, seems this stubble look is 'in' :p

Same here, I can easily get into that scabby tramp look which annoyes the missus no end lol. After a while it does wind me up and then the razor comes out and then the cycle begins anew.

EDIT: maybe not the scabby tramp lol, just scruffy looking stubbly/beard look

Blade, when I can be bothered, can't recall the last time I changed it! (still does the job!) - probably not good for me?
