Shenmue I & II Re-releases

huge dreamcast fan but i found both shenmue's pretty dull. I don't think i even finished the second one.
plenty of far better games on the DC
 
I enjoyed it, was surprised when I could not get into Yakuza recently.

Pre-loading this now. I hope I do not ruin my fond memories of this game.
 

I haven't played the first one since the Dreamcast, although I revisted the second game on the original Xbox. I've wanted a PC release for years!
 
Very pleased with the port. Cannot believe how good the graphics hold up for a 18 year old game. Most games that old do not look half as good. This game was a bit like Crysis in that graphically it was way ahead of it's time.

But putting graphics aside. I was worried that the gameplay may not hold up and kill my nostalgia, but surprisingly that has not been the case and I have been having fun with it, which was not the case at all recently with Yakuza 0 which started feeling like a chore playing it no matter how hard I wanted to like it.

Anyone else made it as far as the Sega Arcade Shop? I set a high score on darts and won a mini trophy. Was like 450ish points :D

The fact Shenmue has a day/night cycle, dynamic weather and NPC scheduling is a testament to how advanced it was in 1999! Don't forget that the original Deus Ex came out a year later, and looked terrible by comparison!

Haha, yes I was just thinking about Deus Ex after reading TNA's post. Thankfully the gameplay more than made up for the for the lack of graphic quality. :D

I never played Shenmue, but I remember all the talk about it at the time. Wouldn't mind getting this at some point; maybe in a Steam sale.

I was thinking about it while posting but never made the comparison. I agree, the gameplay more than made up for its graphics :)

You guys started playing Shenmue? I kind of got hooked onto it. I only ever played Shenmue 1 and 2 once and completed them when they originally came out back in the day, so kind of forgot half of the story. I just remember key moments so it has been very enjoyable refreshing my memory. Very happy to have this in my steam collection.

Really hope Shenmue 3 is a great game. I backed it on Kickstarter. 1 year away from release now. Looking forward to it :D
