Shevchenko to leave...?!?

Ooohhh , you two are in for it when he sees this!
Doesnt bother me.
They're free to their opinions. Even though they havnt really expressed them, they've just quoted me. ;)

If he goes, it'll be a shock to everyone. And i'd imagine calls for Silvios head.
The money for him would more than buy Henry or Eto'o to compensate though. But i still dont think he'll go.
The same way that Arsenal fans dont think Henry will leave. ;) :p

Do you think so?
I dont think any player in the world signing for Chelsea would be a shock.
If he goes , he'll go for huge money - guess at what , around £30m?
For a 30 year old with only a couple of years left at playing at the highest level I think thats good business.

Well you can't say things like that and not expect to take flak if it comes back to bite you!
I can take the flak. Trust me, the flak that you lot give is nothing compared to what i get at work anyway! :p

Yes i do think they'd be calls for Silvios head. And i wouldnt be surprised to see protests as well.
It wouldnt be a shock to Chelsea, but to everyone else outside of the UK it would. Especially in Milan.

Look at it like this. In the unlikely situation that he goes, the money from him would pay for Henry, or if he goes Barca, for Eto'o, if not, then Crespo and a few other players.
We've proven before that we can still be good without him, but as allways, i'd prefer him to stay. And i still think he will.

The Times has the story that AC Milan have turned down Andriy Shevchenko's request for a two-year contract extension. The news has apparently alerted Chelsea who are said to be planning a £35 million bid.

At the moment Shevchenko might just be playing a bit of hardball with his employers. He has always enjoyed excellent relations with the Milan hierarchy who rank him as a 'favourite son' of the club. It is rare for a forward-and foreign player to boot- to spend so long at one of the top Italian clubs. He moved there from Dinamo Kiev as far back as 1999.

Inevitably, when a striker nears 30, questions have to be answered about whether the sharpness remains and Milan may just be letting Shevchenko know that no one is indispensible.

At the moment its all shadow boxing as it is isn't clear whether the Ukrainian actually wants to leave- and if Chelsea did move in, Milan may be stirred to action to keep their star man. Its a story that will run right through the summer and the striker will be looking to put himself in the shop window during the World Cup.

Milan push Shevchenko within reach of admiring Chelsea

CHELSEA’S hopes of signing Andriy Shevchenko from AC Milan have increased after the Ukraine striker yesterday had his request for an extended contract at the San Siro turned down. Shevchenko is not yet ready to put in a transfer request, but he is considering his position with a possible £35 million summer move to Stamford Bridge one option.
As revealed by The Times yesterday, Shevchenko met Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian club’s owner, in secret to discuss his future. In a half-hour meeting, Shevchenko asked for a two-year extension to his present contract, which would keep him at the club until 2011.

In addition, the 29-year-old demanded that his wages of £115,000 a week stay the same, which would bring him an incredible £30million over the next five years. Despite the cordial nature of the talks Berlusconi, who is godfather to Shevchenko’s son, Jordan, rejected his demands.

After the calculated attempt to flush out Milan’s intentions, Shevchenko will now bide his time in anticipation of a bid from Chelsea after speaking to Roman Abramovich ten days ago about a possible move.

Shevchenko may move to Chelsea - Agent

AC Milan superstar Andriy Shevchenko's agent has revealed for the first time the striker may leave Italy for English champions Chelsea.

The Ukraine international has insisted for much of this year he would remain with the Rossoneri but now it appears he is willing to consider a move to the Blues. Shevchenko, his club's top scorer with 19 goals in 28 league appearances and another nine Champions League strikes, will not play again in Serie A this season after picking up a knee injury at Parma last week.

When asked if Shevchenko would move to Chelsea in the summer, his agent Oscar Damiani told PA Sport: "Everything has yet to be decided. We don't know yet. Everything has to be discussed. It could be that he stays at Milan or that he goes."

Additional weight to his possible departure are comments on www.gazzetta.it, the website for Gazzetta dello Sport, by Silvio Berlusconi.

The Milan owner is reported to have said to a child who had told him Shevchenko is his favourite player: "Do you know that Shevchenko wants to leave? He wants to go to England."

Shevchenko has helped second-placed Milan stay in the race for the Scudetto this season but he has reportedly been at odds with his coach, Carlo Ancelotti, on different occasions.

After the Parma match, Shevchenko and his wife did meet with Berlusconi, although the subject of their discussions is unknown.

Chelsea have been linked with the player ever since the acquisition of the club by Russian owner Roman Abramovich.

Milan signed Shevchenko to an extension last year, which ties him to the Rossoneri until June 2009, after a flurry of speculation that Chelsea were about to make the club a tempting offer.

Shevchenko, who will captain Ukraine at the World Cup this summer in Germany, turns 30 in September. He joined Milan from Dinamo Kiev in 1999.

To be honest, i think Shevas just trying to force Milans hand in extending his contract futher.

That article says that the Italian press say (:D):

Italian press reports claim Milan will only allow the former Dynamo Kiev striker to leave if they can sign Arsenal's Thierry Henry or Barcelona star Samuel Eto'o as a replacement.

Eto'o won't leave, and Henry won't go to Milan. If those are the specific terms, he won't leave Milan.

So going off that, they're basically saying that he wont go unless they can get another world class striker as a replacment.
And as the chances of Henry going Italy (where he failed ;)), and Eto'o coming Milan are v.slim, he's basically staying with us. :p :D
Still though, what ever happens, he has my support. I support Milan wholeheartedly, but if a player wants to leave, i wish them luck at their new challenge.

I'm not surprised that Milan isn't putting up much of a fight for Shevchenko cause for a guy who will soon be 30 and to get around £35m for him would be a big welcome.

From what I've heard from Italy, the likes of £35m is hard to turn down especially when you know that next season, that fee could be cut by upto half that.

It's good business sense in a way and thats what Milan are looking at with the signing of a younger player would be better.

Although, it would be great to see him in the premiership but not at Chelsea.
