sorry to hijack but im in the same position the OP was when he started this thread. I just can't decide if I want to buy one or not, I kinda hate spending that sort of money on a portable device. I can see the benefits of an iPhone cause its a very versatile device but is it really worth the price? For that sort of money I could get a ps3 or the like.

I have a Blackberry for work and was thinking of buying an iPhone but it seems that work have decided to switch operator. I now have a new BB 8310 .. it's 3G, even has GPS and maps onboard!
I was seriously thinking of purchasing a current iPhone before going on holiday but now.. I think I can wait. I want to see just how much they screw early adoptors in addition to the cost of the contract (you pay £900 then they have the cheek to ask for £13).
I bet every new application through the SDK will have to go through Apple, costing the software vendor and the user additional money - all part of Apple's profit drive.

All future software updates for the iPhone are FREE.
They offered some of the iPhone's apps to iPod Touch customers for £13.
You can easily unlock the iPhone and do away with the terrible tariffs
