Nobody serious is actually suggesting Elon is a Nazi or is sympathetic to any Nazi cause.

Well I seriously think he is sympathetic to the the Nazi cause so that automatically makes your statement untrue but if you want to argue about whether or not Elon is a Nazi then best take it over to the Elon thread.

No, I like to see where people get their insane opinions from so I can have a good laugh.

Often this will further discredit their argument, depending on the source they use, such as GBeebies.

After Musks fascist salute yesterday many subreddits have decided to no longer allow linking to X / Twitter. I personally think Overclockers should also no longer allow linking to X. What say you?
Yes please, this should have been done years ago.

It's terrible scrolling a thread and half the posts are just an embedded tweet with maybe five words from the poster (if you're lucky).

If people want to site a source for their post they can just put the URL.

I have had a problem with twitter post and run on these forums for some time. Some posters spam twitter links with no context, and often without even cursory checks on accuracy.

I'm not a fan of banning the platform as a whole, but do support moderating user before here.

I think it makes total sense if you're running a community that focuses on a topic that Twitter has set itself up in direct opposition to under Musk. Can't see why it would be necessary for this forum to block access.

However, I'd completely support it on the basis that it's a horrible website to try to actually use. It's one thing discussing a screenshot of a Tweet, or an embedded one, but if someone is saying "hey click this link and then comment on the contents", and then I (and everyone else) have got to wade through the 3 feet of muck that is the Twitter website and forced logins, yeah that's not going to generate a meaningful debate.

Well, it is basically just state run social media now. It's owned by someone who will be head of a government department and who has an office in the Whitehouse. It is a state that is now run by a convicted conman and fraudster, so can't be seen as at all trustworthy.

It's obviously going to become more and more just a Trump/GOP propoganda machine.

Lets get serious here, Musk is a fascist that is actively aiding the President of the United States to deploy an authoritarian and ultranationalist political ideology.

So yes the sooner we stop pretending he's just some harmless autistic man child the better.

This, if X is banned then so should any external source.

Why? Are you attributing the same weight of fact, or disinformation to Twitter as you are, e.g to the Gov.uk or commons library website (which I've linked to in the past), which contains official government documentation on law?

Why ban them? Seems foolish to me. If you don’t agree with something then argue against it. Banning external links to X isn’t about to make it go away. Very much head in sand mentality.

fine by me - i don't have an account so can't see them anyway.

But yes, i dont think we should support X in any way. I don't buy the echo chanber comments - i don't think there is any balance or anything to be gained by using X any more.

I made a Twitter account when it was released alongside everyone at work that day to see what it was about. I think I might have made one post and then never used it again. I have clicked the odd link to Twitter on forums/websites etc, but clicking them doesn't seem to allow much more than reading what is shown on the link anyway so stopped bothering.

On a personal level I'd like to see people move away from Twitter just due to the changes made under Musk, it is no longer there for the ideals it was originally built on.

I downloaded my data and permanently deleted my account a month or two ago. It’s not what it was any more and I have no intention of ever going back.
