       do better man. I onced lifted my arm up to stretch and it may have looked like Barrack or Clinton. Heck, I even waved once.

Stop coping in this one - it is far easier to cope by explaining what it probably was, an autistic getting carried away/in the moment with a "from the heart" statement.
how about this!!!!!

I voted yes as I think the world would be a far better place without social media. Twitter has become a nastier place than it was before Musk bought it and I deleted my account a couple of years ago. I hate social media in general as it's a huge cesspool where people say **** they'd never dare say in real life to real people.

Like someone said about Musks Nazi salute, and I paraphrase, "if you think what Musk did wasn't a Nazi salute, do it at you place of work tomorrow and see what happens".

Do it twice, just to make sure. Like Musk did.

I know if I did what Musk did at School drop off I would be receiving a visit from the police before lunchtime.

Either ban all social media or don't ban any; personally don't as Twitter does have it's uses outside of the brain-rot tripe (ie - Space thread etc).

If kept then it would be nice if other platforms were supported like federation, Bluesky, Threads etc, as well as automatically sticking that media content in spoiler tags or just initially presenting them a little smaller as like someone else mentioned, sometimes it can be a pain whilst scrolling.

Ban all social media platforms which require a login to view.

Would that include links to newspaper articles that require a subscription or only offer x "free" articles to people.

AFAIK (w.r.t the thread topic) twitter doesn't require a login to view a tweet embedded in a forum post.

Keep X for now.

Musk is quite obviously losing the plot, and his ideology is increasingly far-right. The fact Tommy Robinson is his hero tells you everything you need to know, and yes, that was a Nazi salute, he got carried away and let the mask slip big time.

That being said, X is still the most mature platform with a wide range of users, you just have to ignore the crap on there. Admittedly, that is becoming increasingly difficult and I think it will continue to decline, but not for a while yet.

Nobody serious is actually suggesting Elon is a Nazi or is sympathetic to any Nazi cause.

Some of them are actually, including the OP of this thread, his argument for banning twitter/x.com seems to be made solely on the basis that he's one of those people who gets very triggered about Elon.

People don't seem to be able to separate the platform from the main owner, twitter/x.com is a free speech platform that contains posts from a variety of people across the political spectrum, in terms of left/right content it's pretty balanced overall (split is like 50:50 even after the exodus of some very angry people to BlueSky), but the mere fact that there are right-wing posters, "anti woke" campaigners etc.. or indeed people with racist or sexist views or transphobic or whatever views on there and they can't be banned so easily seems to trigger people.

But OCUK already has family-friendly forum rules, just because Twitter allows say nudity doesn't mean you're permitted to post a tweet containing nudity on OCUK forums... just because a tweet contains a racial slur doesn't mean you're permitted to post that tweet on OCUK forums, just because Twitter allows war footage doesn't mean... and so on.

So banning Twitter for that reason would be pointless as tweets/posts that are embedded here already have to comply with OCUK forum rules if embedded in threads, the only argument left then becomes Elon bad etc.

We are the same, i just spent 30 minutes explaining to the wall, that it is made of bricks, i explained bricks, how they are made etc, ultimately the wall was not convinced.

If people don't move away from twitter, it will always be the most popular platform. If you believe Musk is a far right fascist I find it strange you would continue to use his platform which directly supports him. Deleting your twitter account is easy and it sends the small message that you won't accept a fascist. Millions of other people doing the same sends a big message.
