We often whinge (me included) when things go wrong with online retailers, so I thought I'd make a thread when the opposite happens.

I bought an A/V receiver yesterday from RS, and as I'd registered a new email account with them (I'd forgotten my password for the original), rang them to enquire how to get the new user £10 discount.

The sales guy sorted it out for me, gave me the new user discount, even though he knew I wasn't strictly new, and on top of that, gave me a six year guarantee for free, which I'd been prepared to pay £60 for!

Cherry on top of the icing, arrived before 10am today, free next day delivery!

Made my day that did. :)

Their old owner was very hands on with customer service. He personally reviewed feedback and visited stores where they got a 2 (out of 5) or less, from what I've read.

Worked in Belfast Branch for 2 days and left about 12 years ago., utterly awful place to work for, draconian and constant over the shoulder managing etc. Not even sure most of it was legal.

I've not used them for years but was always very pleased with their service. They only had a handful of shops then, sure I used to go to one near London Bridge.

It gets better, I bought a TV from them prior to their 5 year warranty so just had 1 year iirc, the TV was 4 years old and then broke, I thought I had 5 years so contacted them and they decided honour it anyway and give me a store voucher for the full price as the TV wasn't available anymore, even better than that I went picked a TV and they helped me load it into my car and off I went all within 5 minutes, no ******** sales pitch about HDMI cables damage protection etc. Unlike Curries. They now have a customer for life as a result and I won't ever buy from Curries ever again, last attempted purchase from Curries ended up in me losing my **** and walking out with the Manager following me saying "but sir you won't be able to play high definition games without the HDMI cable"

Richer Sounds has always been decent. Sometimes they might not be the cheapest but they have good knowledgeable staff and their sales are pretty good.

Got my Receiver and Surround kit from RS - as well as several TV's over the years. Found their prices and Customer Services to be excellent. Their warranties are 5* too.

They are generally super competitive.
To be honest they would be the last place I would look if I needed something. I think of them a bit like John Lewis - you know you will get a good service, but usually the price is higher than the rest, so would only have a look there if there was a price match going on.

Sometimes they offer a longer warranty than JL and are only within a few % of the price

My S95B the broke after about 3 months. It took some moaning on there online socials for them to agree to change it. They originally just fobbed me off to Samsung.
Not sure I'd use them again, there service is no where near as good as it used to be.
Years ago they would have just swapped the TV and they would deal with Samsung or whoever, that's not the default position anymore so why use them at all when that's all other places will do.
