When I make the Bun Bo Hue I have to avoid smelling in until the herbs are added because of the shrimp paste
I just watched the YT video that you linked to. The fermented fish paste really looks like surstromming. Have you smelt both? If it's as bad as that I don't think I would be allowed to cook with it
