For some reason the 7950 won't work with the 7970 without both bridges on.

Yep I noticed my cooler is the wrong way on pretty much straight after I put it on ages ago :P

But.. its a cheapo plastic one with crappy plugs which if I take out will crack. I will be getting a better cpu cooler at some point so will take it out once in in for all. At the moment is very cool in there and I don't o/c.

Awesome :) Didn't realize they were two different cards. Why didn't you buy another 7970?

I actually started off with a VTX3D 7950, and was looking for a second card to cross fire with. But then a couple of weeks back we had that B Grade sale here, and I got the Gigabyte WF3 7970 for £239.99 which was marginally more expensive than a 7950 at the time. In time I will probably want symmetry and get rid of the 7950 and get the 7970 to match. I slight oc'd my 7950 to 1Ghz and its going well so don't feel like changing..

Might as well spam in here too :D :o

Ssshh! Don't tell doyll Al-Ghul that I've betrayed the aircooling league of shadows

Uncle Petey, you deserted the k2 club, you little *******. I shall cast you down like the dirty little git you have become. Henceforth ye shall be known as a sellout.:D

But seriously, nice one mate, it looks fantastic, see you kept the k2 fan as an homage as a rear case fan.:)

Thanks mate, I will always have love for the K2.
I have to say, dumping the Alpenfohn twins was honestly a little gut wrenching... I actually gave them a little stroke and thanked them for serving me so well :o

This change wasn't really about temps as they were great.
I just wanted to build something new and I'd exhausted the options on air. Water was the only way to go. Call it fiddlers itch :D

I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me and reserve a place of honour in the K2 wall of fame :)

You will always have a place in the k2 summit achieving club mate. For god sake your a founding member lol.:)

Tbh, im interested in going custom watercooling myself, as the ivybridge cpu's are very hot running. Id like to buy a secondhand delidded 3770k and put it under watercooling. The k2 copes ok with my 3570k at 4.5ghz. But as intel messed up with pasting on theese cpu's, delidding is the only way to get low temps wether on air or water. Case choice again for me is another matter, shinobi is poor for wc, my lian li with modding could fit a 480 rad uptop and a 280 in the front. But very expensive to mod the case and buy the parts.

I thought the XL was fairly decent for rad space. Not the best, but decent enough. Airflow on the other hand...

It is bloody expensive though. Unbelievable how all the bits add up.
I saved a fair bit on the blocks, pump top, four GT1850's and most of the fittings on the MM, but it's pot luck and a matter of timing when it comes to availability on there.
Even so, my original rough budget had doubled by the time I'd got everything together, though that was partly due to me being stubborn about getting the Monsta rads :o

Despite that, I'd say it's well worth doing if you can stretch to it. It's bloody good fun building it all up and the temps are great :)

The shinobi xl is a joke mate tbh, it's a 3/4 atx case inside, it has no front air intake at all, (no rad space there). A 60mm depth triple rad uptop means fitting the fans to the case frame with the rad inside the case.

My A70F is a great case for a wc setup, but it would need modding of the top panel by a third party company. And as i want to go sli wf 670 soon, my spare cash is gonna be accounted for. Tbh, windforce cards dont need to be watercooled unless for asthetic reasons. They run so cool and quiet, and due to being voltage locked, theyre not gonna clock any higher.

Well, on the bright side, a cpu only loop would be a lot cheaper :D

Tell me about shinobi airflow... I cut the hell out of my std shinobi to try and improve it.
Only real way is to cut fan sized holes in the front panel and put filters over them.
Style over substance there...

Very true, but i love the shinobis cable management and black interior. My A70F is massive inside, has great front air intake. But i despise it's plain aluminium interior.

It's a great case to build a rig in, 20 mins max as you dont need a screwdriver. The mobo standoffs are different length thumbscrews, pcie clamps for gpu's etc, even the psu is held in by a quick release clamp. And the psu can be moved to the top rear if needed.

With modding, that could be pretty damn sweet.

Chrome Heatkiller blocks/backplates and good cable management with a fat rad in the front and whatever you can fit in the top + a long tube res with the right colour coolant and suitable fittings would/could be epic.
