hmmm - did everyone take a pic of their backbox just for this thread or did they just *happen* to have one available ?

I am shameless, yes I am guilty M'Ld. - The things one does in the line of duty for the Oc/Uk Forums! :o :D :D

Call me a ******* but every time I see a stupidly big zorst on a crappy car (like old rusty boxmobile) I feel like sticking my foot in it and standing on it.
But these guys didn't do anything wrong so I aint damaging their cars.

Hey! your a ******* :p - I'm very glad that BMW hid the exhausts on my car if thats your view! :D

Again, as I stated in my previous post, surely if it was a problem with the turbo then it would be a constant thing (rather than 10 minutes per month approx) and there would be smoke coming out both pipes, and there would be something wrong with the power output of the engine? I tried belting it off roundabouts and up hills etc. while the exhaust was bellowing smoke and there was definitely no difference in the speed or sound of the car.
Going by my log it's not due another blowout for 2-3 weeks yet but if it comes at a convenient time I'll post pics or a vid of it if it is of any assistance :)

It's blue smoke though

Yeah :D How'd you guess? 'Tis a K-tec jobby with no middle box! Sounds spot on imo, not OTT. Not quite as 'angry' as a side-exit either :p
i recognised the bumper slats, my friend has the same on his black and grey r5gtt.

If that smoke was normal I'd have expected to have seen loads of threads on bmwland from new owners asking if it was OK. I spend half of my day trawling through the forums there. :D

I'd definitely ask over there to see what other e60 owners say.

Just asked a guy in the office, he's got a 3l E60 - he has the same thing, but its booked in to have it checked out on friday.

3L diesel? What milage? How often does it happen him, and who is he getting it checked out by? Let me know what the outcome is if you don't mind :)

I honestly think it's a set procedure in the car though, going by the reasons I've already stated (can't be bothered posting them again :p ). It's still under warranty so I'm not avoiding it for cost reasons. Will perhaps phone another local BMW specialist this afternoon but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the car and when it smokes like that there is no drop in performance, change in sound, etc.
