I'd say you'll find the limits of the 390 pretty quickly on the open road. Low gearing makes it a laugh in town, it'll grate outside though.
The 765's chassis is going to outperform all of them out of the box, you'd need to spend a little on the MT-09's chassis to get it anywhere close.
If you're playing in mountains, consider a proper motard- 690SMC-R would get my vote
Super Motos aren't great in the mountains. There are so many hairpins where you need proper geometry to lean off the bike.
These roads just down the road from me are the sort I'd be riding on:
690 SMC? R?
Posted that before the thread updated with the above lol
You do that in the mountains and you have a 200-2000m drop when you **** it up.
Judging by my experiences in the alps, the R1200GS is the undisputed king, so get one of those!
For sheer fun on those I'd probably get a 600cc class sports bike, soft spot for the R6 personally. Not sure I would be ok with the riding position though. But actually the big K is perfectly good fun on those roads too.
Last ok'ish picture of the SV before the crash...
You still not decided on riding again?
I've already decided...
I think we should open a book on what @IC3 buys for next summer. I'm putting my money on a KTM 690 of sorts or an MT-07
I wonder if an IL4 might be next tbh. GSXR maybe?
edit: costs would jump though
I think it will be a stunt oriented bike like the Street Triple. That or a dedicated track bike that he will mostly ride on the road
Like you place bets on @Clov!s next bike? lol
Damn right. I give him another 2 months tops!!!!
Out for a run on the old girl yesterday afternoon. One of those rides that started out only supposed to be a morning run but ended up with me out on the roads till 15:00 in the afternoon I was having so much fun. For a 17 year old machine, she can still shift.
You lot go on like i change my bike quite often
Got out on mine last weekend. Only a quick blast to blow out the cobwebs. Great views over Cheshire tho
