Nice, enjoy. If it hasn't had the firmware update for twitchy throttle (2015s onwards had the update as standard), Yamaha will probably still do it for free. Makes a noticeable difference but it's still very switch-like. For a proper solution get the bike in for a remap- fixes the throttle, removes all the Euro 3 restrictions and allows full throttle in 4th-6th gear.

Also with a bit of extra expenditure they can enable quickshifter and autoblipper.
I’ve been reading up about the AutoBlipper, what do I need exactly to make it work?

Nice! Would be interested in hearing your opinion on the suspension.

Throttle issues were solved on the newer models and the XSR on release, due to inital reviews slating the ridiculousness of the throttle response. I'd look at getting it sorted.
Will update in a week or so once I’ve had time to get a feel for it. :)

Apparently the code is already on the ECU, you need the Woolwich Race Tools flashed to enable them, and then the strain-gauge gearshift linkage and loom. Worthwhile getting a dyno setup at the same time to de-restrict and fix the throttle. Steve Jordan down in Bookham does a ride-in ride-out service, as do several others.

It looks like they do an all in one kit for $445, that would include everything i think? Unless i need anything extra to enable the autotblipper?

Yeah that's the software and parts, you'd still need someone to do the flash though (DIY possible I guess, no idea how though!) and ideally dyno time to make full use of the flash's capabilities.
Cheers, I’ll look into it :)

Just to clear something up, you can’t start the MT-09 when it’s in 1st can you? It won’t let me unless the bike is in neutral?

I could start the SV with clutch pulled in when I was in 1st gear with the stand up, there was a kill switch on the stand.

I don't see why you would start it in 1st, though? I always check to make sure its in neutral before starting the bike, I don't even think about it. I just do it naturally... lol

Normally you just have to pull the clutch in, regardless if you're in gear or not.

If you couldn't start when in gear it would make restarting the bike after stalling or it cutting out very interesting!!

My Yamaha MT-10 does.

Maybe they've changed it then. Back when I used to ride loads of Jap smokers none of them would start unless in neutral. Like @IC3 it just became second nature, we didn't even think about it. Turn ignition on, sidestand off, feel for neutral, hit starter.

If you've parked on a hill and left the bike in first then it's easier to start in first compared to rocking it to get neutral before starting it. Also at roadwork lights you should turn off the bike, and here it's safer to leave it in first in case you're rear ended and starting in first avoids needing to go first > neutral > start > first > go.

I'm very surprised that you've never come across scenarios where starting in first is preferred.

Mine starts in neutral no matter what, so side stand down and no clutch is fine.

In first you obviously need the clutch but also the side stand has to be up too. Actually I'm assuming you need the clutch as I've never tried it in first without it.

I was at a set of lights and i was messing with my jacket and stalled the bike but it wouldn't start in 1st gear, had to knock it into N first.

Yeah after stalling was when I initially noticed it won't start in first.

It will bump start while rolling though, so it's just the starter motor that's disabled.
