*** Show us your bikes! ***

Yes, it seems there is..

Most places have the current model at 9.5K and the Extrema will probably be north of 11K, but does have the SC Project zorst + other goodies.
I'll call the dealer today and see what info they're willing to share.

OK- Elephant in the room, and take this with a pinch of salt as it's just my opinion, albeit I've agonising over this myself many times. I get you want something you can thrash on the road, but does that mean an 11K bike? Doesn't your RGV give you exactly that?

I currently have an S1000RR and an MT-09 to cover the modern, and an 80s FZ750 and 90s CBR600 to cover nostialgia for this very reason, but honestly even with all that choice, I know I would deeply regret not having the BMW, despite, as you say, not being able to approach its potential on the road, and perhaps only tickle it on the track. But I think it's telling that I've let the MOT lapse on the MT and always reach for the keys to the BMW. Yes, it's way too serious, yes it's way too much, but it has something for every situation and it's an easy mental adjustment to enjoy it at 50% commit, rather than have a smaller capacity bike and be constantly reminded of what it isn't.

I'd say keep the Ninja, and scratch the thrashy itch with the RG, or maybe pick up a half decent 600 or 750 for peanuts. Replacing a superbike with an 11K parallel twin, however pretty, feels like a recipe for regret to me. Or ditch them all and get something more road biased like a Tuono factory, 1290 Duke etc- a less aggressive stance goes a long way to making silly performance more accessible in the everyday.

Sermon over :D

@CGrieves you are absolutely correct.
When I first suggested the idea of swapping to a 660 to my riding buddy, he said pretty much a carbon copy of what you suggested.
During lock down i spent over £1K rebuilding the RGV engine, so may as well get some use out of it.
As you said, the regret factor would be a killer, no matter how much I tried to justify it to myself.
I'm regretting selling my Superduke 1290R, but it is what it is.
FWIW I cancelled the RS 660 test ride yesterday, as great as it may be, i'd just miss the balls out power that a liter bike provides.

Ah yeah, forgot you'd had a Duke. No better roadbike for thrashing around on than a 2t 250 in my view!

Ordered an AC Schnitzer bar riser kit for the RR today, expensive but I figure it'll make a bit more everyday usable.

Sitting at a quiet Box Hill writing this, while mulling over a 1290R :D

After doing 100+ miles yesterday and feeling utterly broken this morning, I definitely decided it's time for change.
As much as I love the 10R, the riding position after an hour is killing me, and it's just not fun after that amount of time. Also, the power is just insane, and as I have zero self control and at some point I'll probably get a long ban or turn into meat rain when I hit something.
So, during my morning at work I narrowed it down to either..

MT10
RS660
Z900
S1000R

I found a S1000R Sport locally and called up to inquire, but someone was in the process of buying it and eventually did.
Another local main dealer had the RS and MT10 in stock, so I had a ride up for a look see and a test ride.
I took one look at the MT, and that was that, but had a spin on the RS.
I wasn't expecting much, but WOW! Despite only 100BHP, that thing was super fun and the induction noise was addictive, as was the handling.
@Diddums you'd ******* love it!
So I decided to see if I could have a deal on either the std RS or the Extrema.
I got offered £7K for mine and then left empty handed.
Probably a blessing in disguise as it didn't really have the howl of an IL4 and as has been said previously that i'd almost definitely miss the power.
I looked online at another local dealer who had the Z900 ex demo in the colour I wanted, and then noticed that they'd just listed a S1000R Sport also in the colour I wanted.
Sadly it was too late to ride down to them, so had a chat and did a deal over the phone.
I got £1200 more for mine btw.
Anyhoo TLDR

My new bike..
The rim tape will be sacked off.

Nice, loved my S1000Rs when I had it, just does everything so well.

I’m currently going through the process of changing my fireblade for something a bit more fruity..

Took a ride down to the dealers today so they could look at my bike and me look at theirs.
All was good, and I pick it up next Saturday :D
Things to order are, tail tidy, new exhaust, belly pan extension (to hide the cat) and a bigger screen.
It certainly looked better in the flesh..

The salesman said that the people who P/X S1000R's usually do so to buy a Tuono factory.
That'll probably be my next bike, but I'm hoping I can keep this one for a year at least without the urge to change.
