My Street Triple R.

Finally can post in this thread. Was too embarassed with my old bike to do so. Bought a Super Blackbird on the weekend, quite happy overall! Amazing bike. Had some pictures taken by Khaaan!

^^ Cracking photos mate :) she looks lovely. How you finding the linked brakes?

Pretty good and a lot more responsive than my old bike, thats for sure! They are good!

I'm really not taking the **** on her at the moment and treating her like a lady because I know the moment I start disrespecting her she has the ability to cause me a great deal of aggravation!

Would like to ask a few questions if any1 here knows.
im after getting a 2010 bike been looking @ the cb1000r speed triple or the new z1000. what would u think is the best out of the 3. had a 2007 z1000 and loved it to bits.

I would test ride all 3 and go from there personally, on looks alone the Z1000 as it looks mean :D, I do like the light on the Honda though.

Yea definitely then, I fear you might look like donkey kong on the Triumph :D I have the same problem but I'm only 6'1 and look big on a lot of bikes, but Ride heights, seats and rear sets etc can all be changed to suit.

Personally would choose the triple out of those three... the torque curve on the engine is so easy to use & the ride is more suited to average road riding.

The other two are more peaky (ie, you have to rev the engine to get the best out of them, compared to the triple)

But best thing to do is go round the dealers and test ride them - see which you prefer!

All i hear is rave reviews about the triple will just give 1 a blast and see if its as good as they say. i do like the new 2011 model with the new headlights.

I'm a convert... took a spin on a '10 plate speed triple three weekends ago... for road riding, it's brilliant... the torque curve is so flat throughout the range it just makes it so... easy

It's also deceptive, having such a linear torque curve... you don't always realise quite how fast you're accelerating.

The '11 is even more comfy than the '10, but handles just as well (if not a little better)

Only reason I didn't get it... bank said no... so had to look for something I could afford without a loan... ended up with a Daytona 955i - couldn't get away from the triple!

Previous bikes are CBR600F and Kwak ZZR1100... I find the 955i to be faster than the Kwak and yet it feels more tame and controlled.

I also test rode a '10 yamaha fz1 and z1000... wasn't particularly interested in the honda

I test rode 3 speed triples and a street triple at the weekend. An 07 plate speed first, then a 60 plate old shape with full arrow exhaust and a few other trick bits, then a brand spanking new speed triple, and lastly a brand spanking new street triple.

The speeds all rode very similar, The engine is fantastic and the torque even in high gears and low revs is amazing, the bike wants you to overtake every thing... The brand new one was so smooth to ride, no nasty vibrations and it slips through gear effortlessly, it felt very planted through corners but Didnt feel as agile as the earlier model.

The 60 plate was my favorite of the 3 speeds, it felt right in every way. The brembo brakes stopped the bike in seconds, the power and handling where spot on it felt very agile while still smooth and planted round the twisties and the arrow exhuast sounded amazing.

After trying the 3 speeds out I was curious to see how the street triple compared, to be honest I wasn't expecting much......

Boy was I wrong, I was massivly surprised by it! As soon as I got on it I could tell this bike was a hooligan and it didnt let me down. It felt far more agile than any of the speeds, you could flick it from left to right in a split second. The power is great too, it's a lot more revy than the speeds but the torque is still impressive and can catch you unaware and leve you hanging on for dear life if you give it a bit too much throttle.
You have to work the street a lot more than the speed but if you do the results are amazing.
The only way to describe it is it's like scrappy doo, it just wants to have a go at every thing, while its very agile the front does feel a lot more twitchie than the speed, but for me this was all part of its charater it made you feel alive when riding it, It begs you to abuse it!

The speeds had me smiling after riding but the street had me grinning from ear to ear like a child.
but alas the news ones are beyond my reach.

Thx for that very good review ;) will look at the street triple as well.

Thx for the good review will take a look at the street triple.

Its currently top of my list, test rode one again last weekend, waiting call backs for test rides on the other current 600's, the Daytona will take some beating though, already planned all the mods for it :p

DO IT :D The Daytona is awesome, wish I'd chopped the R1 in for one when I had planned.... as I wouldn't have had crash #3 then :p

Still remember the looks I got when I rode the test bike through the town - one a standard exhaust and not revving that high, it must have still sounded amazing to have drawn so many looks :)

Been toying with the idea of flogging off the 750 recently, need to rent a place in Bristol and need a bit of cash to get some bits and bobs, as a replacement I've been thinking of a KTM 690SM, K4-5 750 and a 675..... though, I'll probably keep the 750 as I love it

Keep the 750 they are awesome! :D
Only reason I'm not getting another one is because I don't like the look of the newer ones and I cant get another K4/5 as I just know it wont be the same, I hated riding a friends same model 750 after I had mine setup so much for me :p
And its good that I have not ridden another 750 in between my accident and testing the 675 as I don't feel a power drop between them, especially with the new 675's longer first gear, hell this thing just keeps going! I am pretty confident riding the hell out of sportsbikes and I could pin this thing and there was plenty of revs left, no wonder its so rated on the road, there is so much low down usable power.

If nowhere calls me back by the end of the month for a ride on the 2011 ZX6R then I will most likely go put my deposit down on the Daytona! such a sweet deal with Arrow can, levers and QS included :D

See that's the thing the 675 looks absolutely stunning in that Black/Gold combo and I love it, fell in love with it as soon as I see it.

I do really like the 750 GSXR's though but they don't have that same appeal to me as that 675.

I could trade in my bike but I am unsure what I would get for it, its an R plate (2004?) Suzuki GSX600F on about 8k miles. Spent large portion of its live in the garage and just has like 2 tiny scuffs other than that pretty mint! Datatool, Datatag, Scottoiler etc.. I reckon I could get like £2k, £2.5k?

Would leave me with about £3k to stump up for that 675
