Tank, how old are your cats now?
The difference in cat behaviour across breeds is negligible.
Here are some recent ones of my MC Rommy
@Tank - I laughed at your moggy chomping down hard on that catnip....om nom nom nom
what sort of cat is he?
Sorry for your loss SouthEastBlue Meiko was a handsome looking cat.Just to bump my pic from two years ago...
He was my daughters cat, but I loved this cat so much. Unfortunately he died from suspected poison/or brain tumour on Wednesday and there was nothing the vets could do to save him. He gradually lost complete control of his body and had to be put to sleep. He really was the most loving, attentive cat I have ever come across - he was more like a dog than a cat. It left us all deeply saddened, he was part of our family.
RIP Meiko <3
There was some good news not long after, as the breeder who sold him to us saw my partners posts on Facebook regarding my cats death. She felt sorry for our loss, and offered us the choice of any of a new litter of female Siamese kittens for absolutely nothing (they share the same mother as the above cat), as a present to my daughter to cheer her up. Nothing can replace my old cat, but this was extremely kind of her considering these kittens cost quite a lot, and we will hopefully pick up a beautiful little 15 week old (I think) Siamese kitten tomorrow.
I will post some pics of the new one when received!
Time to break out the cat toys. Try screwing up some little balls of foil and rolling them around his cat carrier to tempt him out.Today we took home Fernley from Blue Cross rescue centre is Southampton! He is my first ever "proper" pet and I am 29. My partner had cats and dogs all through her childhood though.
He is currently hiding in his travel carrier thing, with the blanket half covering it in the spare room with the door shut. He's got everything he needs in there and we're just letting him get used to his new surroundings. We pop in every few hours to say hello and let him get to know our smell etc.
I would take a photo but at the moment all we can see is a pair of grumpy looking eyes. He is a chonky black british short hair, 9 years old. I wonder how long it will take for him to come out of the carrier and do a bit of investigating!
He's still not interested. We're in the room petmenantlyt now, pulled the blanket back so it's a bit less of a den, played with his toys etc.
He did perk up a bit when I showed him his food bowl but didn't come out still...
I'm not sure if it is a case of luring / tempting him out or letting him take his own time now. :/
Snow Bengal? Absolutely my favorite breed of cat. Stunning.
Sorry for your loss, without a shadow of a doubt you made the right decision to let Holly go. Take comfort in the knowledge she was well loved and looked after and wanted for nothing.Last night the wife and I sat down and discussed Holly's future. It turned out there wasn't any. She has shown signs of going down hill over the last month or so after her major ear operation to remove ear canal and a aggressive tumor. She just sits there looking at nothing - sleeping all day - not turning up for meal time - there was a time that if you were in the kitchen the first sound of food being prepared she was there. - Not now - She has lost her hearing in her good ear and also struggles to use litter tray.
So after a load of wet tissues from both of us we decided today was the day.
Rang a different vet to the one we use and booked her in for late afternoon. -This vet was totally different to our usual Vet - They seemed to have the cat as priority not how much can we make out of this visit. So at 6.00 this evening we had Holly put to sleep - another load of wet tissues. - She also put up a fight - so much so the vet gave her a tranquilizer but after all that we are sure in our minds we did the right thing after a load more wet tissues. In her 10 yrs with us it has been a real up and down with us taking her to the Vet for loads of different problems - She was a stoic little cat.
And another load of wet tissues from me
Sounds like she's been bitten and it has got infected. Best get her to the vets for antibiotics.I noticed one of my cats had a swollen leg on Wed. Swelling had gone down mostly yesterday. Came home today, isn't swollen anymore but she is limping on it and not wanting to put weight on it. Hoping she hasn't done anything serious to it as its terrible timing. Will keep an eye on her and then maybe call the vet on Monday. I do have some pain relief (loxicom) left over from another cat so that might be a temp option :/
