Show us your kitty cats

My Egyptian Mau was getting fat.
I started calling him Big Daddy, due to his big fat belly.
I then shifted him from dry food, over to a pure wet food diet and now he is like he used to be - nice and lean (perhaps a little too lean). I give him a combination of Whiskas (easy on the stomach) and raw meat (boost the meat content). It seems to work if you are looking for a way to slim down the cat.

In my experience, dry food makes it too easy for a cat to eat huge amounts and take on a lot of calories. Wet food, due to the high moisture content, prevents the cat from taking on too many calories.

Thats very helpful, thanks sunama, will be mentioning this to my gf

I have 2 cats, one is about 5-6 and the other is just under 12 months,

I named Wolverine because of the retractable claws and because he's a badass then when we got Rogue her name just made sense

Here's them and their cat tree

Here are our new arrivals. 5 in total, 3 like mum and 2 black (3 boys and 2 girls). They are 5 days old and are very cute. She is proving to be a natural mother (more so than hers was) which is surprising as she is a bit of a do-nut :)

does anyone's kittens/cats not drink out of the cat bowl but will happily squeeze their entire head into a glass of water and drink from that?
I thought it was funny at first but Its got to a point where I have to leave a glass of water on the floor in fear of them dehydrating.

Mine will follow people into the bathroom then jump into the bath and wait for the tap to be turned on so she can drink from it :P

One of my cats will only drink out of a running tap. Its really annoying having to turn the tap on for the cat !

This!

We have a couple of kittens here, this is Kitty a couple of weeks ago;

And this is Tigger a couple of days ago;

The first couple of days they hid under furniture most of the day but now they follow us around and run the house basically!

Thats a cutey.

If my big bad Bengal saw him, he would get scared and attempt to leave the vicinity as soon as possible. When my sister left her 15 week old kittens in my house for 3 days, Mr Bengal stayed on top of the fridge for a solid 3 days. I don't even know if he visited the toilet (I never saw it). He was petrified of the kittens who were about 30% of his size.

My Egyptian Mau is the complete opposite and he would most likely attempt to fight the kitten, in an effort to show his alpha male status.

Here's a pic of my Egyptian Mau (left) and Bengal (right):

Yes.

More often than not the glass of water next to the bed. Then they pull their heads out and knock it over. I've been woken up by a glass of water landing on my head more than once.

They also drink out of puddles, plant pots, random containers full of water... They do drink from their bowl too in the evenings when they're in but appear to like manky old water from a puddle more.

Poppy drinks a lot because she's on steroids so have a dog bowl full of water for ours, she drinks so fast I would come down in the morning (after filling it up before bed) and it would be empty, but I wouldn't know for how long!

Your cat isn't called Gizmo is she?

The only reason I ask is that face is almost identical to my mum's cat (and my auntie's cat, who is her sister). Mum's cat is grey like that and had a littermate who was grey and fluffy, and the family who took her moved away to I don't know where. Would be funny if she was!

Lots of cool looking cats :)

Me and my partner are looking to get a kitten in a few months time, possibly a ragdoll.

What do the owners of kittens/cats do to prevent/discourage clawing of furniture?

Krooton: I am sure Winston would be fine after a while. When we got our two from Battersea they only came out at night. But after a few weeks they were ruling the household.

She is actually The daughter of our other cat who is a standard tortie colour and the grey one was one of a kind in her litter. We will keep a little boy from this litter so we will have grandma, mother and son :-)
