Thought the same (kitten). Our Winston turns 20 in the summer. He looks youthful up front but his age shows in the rear (muscle wastage and arthritis) with his back legs becoming frail.Joining in the tabby-fest.
She caught me taking a photo and woke up. Hard to believe she will be 20 next month.
Same with Angel. Her back legs are frail.
Surprised she waited, mine would have just gone for it!

Another checkup for Oscar this morning with the orthopedic vet.
Vet says he seems to be recovering well with good range of motion and appears to be in no pain.
He's allowed to be out of the cage full time now, but he's on house rest for the next 4 weeks or so.
Another checkup in 2 weeks time on Saturday 8th Feb.
