Ive tried brandishing a catnip sack in front of my 2 cats and my sister's 2 cats.
No effect.
What does catnip actually do?

God knows, because it had no effect on my cat either!

Nah, works on male cats too but I think kittens are less sensitive to it. It wasn't till Charlie was two before he started going mental with the stuff.

Jasper loves to eat it but just sits like he's stoned for ages. It can give him a dodgy stomach though.

Catnip does nothing. But when I am opening up a can of tuna, my Bengal goes crazy.

Either gender, but it apparently works strongly on a third of cats, slightly on another third, and not at all on the final third.

Kittens are supposedly affected less, Winston doesn't get any buzz from it, be it stoned or hyper.

We had that clothes airer, it didn't last long with 2 cats jumping on it, gradually got lower and lower until the legs snapped.

Bought a replacement and that went the same way so in the end bought this one like this but in silver

I give jinx a mouse toy filled with catnip, I just turn off the PC and tv and sit back and enjoy the show....so so funny

BTW to anyone reading this, do not FEED your cat catnip....just let it smell it

il only give mine a pinch, they start to eat it.. then start sneezing, then they flop over and roll their head around in whats left and crash out for 30 mins or so

Only one of the cats me or my family have taken care of have reacted, in any way, to catnip... one of the 3 I have at the minute - she loves rubbing up against a little pillow that's stuffed with the stuff.

my 7yo female cat will go for it everytime i offer it, my 9yo lad will give it a miss 50% of the time now i think about it.
probably averages out i give them a pinch every 1-2 weeks
