OK. That clears it up.
Both his parents were pedigree Maine ****, and therefore, so is he. His grandparents for forefathers 3 generations up, dont really come into this.
Furthermore, with pedigree cats (and I presume dogs, but not 100% sure), usually the mother or father will have won some competitions. These cats will normally have been earmarked for breeding purposes, as breeders want to develop the breed as close to show quality as possible. So, it doesnt surprise me that your cat comes from championship stock.
Personally, if I were to buy a Maine ****, I would look to the breeder that Makunouchi bought his from. He bought 2 Maine Coons and both were terrific examples of Maine Coons should look like. And if I remember correctly, he paid a very reasonable price.
Do remember that Maine Coons will grow to be large cats. Full size achieved between 3-4 yrs of age.
