She was nearly 11. At least she didn't seem in pain and now she doesn't have to suffer it slowly killing her. Cancer is cruel for both animals and humans.
Thanks for the kind words guys, it does help.

You have probably done it already but if you haven't, a good idea is to try and learn your cats body language. They tell you a lot about their mood with their eyes, tail and ears as well as their purr and their 'talk'. You can also try and communicate with them too. For example staring at your cat would be seen as a challenge/act of aggression and combined with the tone of your voice it can be useful when reprimanding a cat so they know you mean business. Whereas slow blinking and breaking eye contact would help to reassure her that you are friendly etc etc. I slow blink at my cats all the time, and they always blink back or wink at me, usually followed by a "hello" meow then purring and a head bump![]()
Yeah I've got reasonably good at learning her language.
Short meow = play with me!
Longer meow = look! I'm here, play with me!
Chirping meow = why aren't you playing with me?
Running around like a loon = Over here! Over here! Wooo! PLAY WITH MEEEEEEE!
Jumping on my keyboard = you *will* play with me
Sad panda eyes = It's been 5 mins since we last played, don't you love me anymore?

Had to have one of my cats put to sleep today.
Since Thursday she had been sleeping in a cardboard box at the end of the kitchen, off her food, drinking only a little then this afternoon wee'd herself in the cardboard box so whisked her off to the vets.
Turns out she was VERY I'll and severely anaemic - tumour found on one of her kidneysNothing to be done that wouldn't make her life worse so elected to have her put to sleep.
Devastated.
RIP Willow.
