A couple days ago Bella met next door's cat on our turf ;) Normally they are separated by a fence...

Normally Sophie (the other cat) makes a kind of whining meow, and maybe a hiss or two. That day Bella just marched up to her and they almost touched noses.

Later on, Sophie tried to get past Bella through the hole in the face to her side, and then the hissing started and the paws were raised, so I airlifted Bella to safety ;) I think Bella just wants to play, and doesn't understand the whole concept of territory...

Does she like going out on the lead? What is she like indoors, does she beg to go outside?

She begs to go out first thing in the morning, at like 7am ;) When I get up (atm not working so later than 7!!), first thing she does is sit by the door and wait for me.

She's super easy to put on the leash, doesn't struggle at all. When outside, she has a couple spots she always goes to. Lately all she wants to do is find next door's cat. If she isn't there, I pick her up and take her to a couple other spots in the garden. She tends to just pick a spot, sit down, and sniff the air.

Very occasionally she'll be startled by a bird, and go into stalking mode :)

Indoors, she begs for food and to be played with. When she gets what she wants, she'll go take a nap ;)

Funny how people in this country get their knickers in a twist about indoor cats. For people in the US or Australia, it's completely normal.

Let's not crap up the thread with pointless bickering. My cat is an indoors cat, deal with it. She does.

Yup, no point bickering, my cats quite happily live indoors and for very good reason, it's your cat you do as you choose with it.

I was tempted to get them a harness but worry that I'll have broken the what-they-dont-know-wont-hurt-them motto we've got. I'd worry they'd then be distressed

I was concerned that she was bored inside. Although she has stacks of toys, she loses interest in them very quickly when they aren't new anymore. I figured the extra stimulation from being outside on a leash would help keep her mind active.

I had the same reservations you had, and I spent some time reading experiences from other people.

One thing that a couple articles mentioned was that indoor cats normally escape at least once in their lifetimes. One possible advantage of being allowed out on a leash is that they'd know where they are, and potentially be able to find their way back if they did get out.

Bella doesn't beg to go out, except first thing in the morning. The rest of the time, she is happy to stay inside. So long as I fulfil her every desire, that is ;)

It may well end up being a moot point soon, as I am trying to get a little baby brother for her. Assuming they bond well together, she'll have all the stimulation she can handle ;)
