Show us your kitty cats

The scratches should generally be OK. It is puncture wounds from bites you have to keep an eye on. They are sometimes hard to see because they are so small but can quickly turn into an abcess and be very painful. Try and identify which leg he is limping on and give it an inspection. Generally a getle squeeze on all areas will help to identify if there is pain or swelling. Ours have had to have infection squeezed out of bite wounds a few times. It makes them yowl but it has to be done. It is suprising the amount of puss and blood that can build up inside a single puncture wound

Cat saliva is full of bacteria so generally any vet will tell you not to allow a cat to lick any open wounds because of the risk of infection (our vets have always said that anyway). Our little men have spent plenty of time in head cones, bless :p

He seems a lot happier today. He's walking normally with an occasional wince. There doesn't seem to be any tender area (no reaction from squeeze) and no wounds that I can feel/see.

I'm taking him to the vets later today just to be sure it's only money at the end of the day but peace of mind is worth the expense.

He's already trying to get outside presumably to go look for the ginger again for round two. He can't be all that bad :D.

My last cat used to fight any and everything and used to return with all sorts of wounds and I swear she wore them as a badge of honour. One thing though no matter how nasty they looked she kept them clean and they did not seem to trouble her in the slightest.

Any advice regarding letting cats back out again after being away for a while? She wanted to go straight back out after getting home yesterday (although she seemed quite content sleeping on our bed all night), but the Mrs wants to keep in in for a few days.

trouble is these days is that cats territories overlap so much where areas are over crowded that you'll never stop all confrontation. and some cats go more on the offensive than others.

floyd really enjoyed last nights BBC doc about mountain lions :D

he gets really confused when they run off screen, he tries to look behind the TV :D

Need some advice about cat fights. My poor boys just come in covered in blood (he probably started it) after cleaning him up there two quite deep gashes on his nose and one at the back of his neck. None are bleeding anymore. He also has a slight limp no wounds to leg/hind but doesn't appear distressed. He's as affectionate as ever.

What do you think take him to the vets now or see how he is in the morning?

(not a great pic)

Sorry for the nooby question but it's my first time cat fight wise and I'm unsure if there's anything nasty other than the wounds I should be concerned about.

Am I being overprotective and worrying about nothing? :D

Take him to the vet... if there are any bites as bites have a habbit of getting infected.

Two of mine were attacked not too far apart... first one we took to the vet straight away, got some antibiotics and nothing happened. Because of how easily he recovered, we decided not to take her to the vet... queue infection that would have been a lot easier to prevent than treat (on her, at least).

+1 as crickle said

Years ago our mainly outdoor Tom got into a fight and one day we found a big abcess on his neck - it looked awful so off to vet - a squeeze and antibiotic and few days later he was fine.

Next doors cat has bit my arm twice and both times I had to go to hospital with poison starting to go up arm - It also hurts.

Daaaauum...didn't know that. That's me taught.

yup. one of our family cats was quite bad for biting people hard. put my sister in A&E (she was the only one brave enough to give him tablets etc) a few times to get shots.

That's just what the vets have always told us when ours have been injured. Kinda makes sense when you see the gunk squeezed out of a bite but perhaps it is more that the vets are being cautious as an excuse to charge us for anti-biotics! :p

To be fair, the last time one of ours went in he had to have some of his fur shaved off and once they had finished he had a gaping wound on his leg where the abscess had burst. Poor fella :(

Whatever it was that turned her loopy it was not the Dettol as she has shown no interest when I have used it since. But i have discovered that not all Catnip is created equal. Bought a bag of cheap stuff from Dofos which really floats her boat send her really daft.

Quite agree about the Catnip. It's weird stuff. My pair go crazy with some catnip toys yet other's can get no interest at all. One thing I will say that any cat will go mad for is these. Mine go absolutely mad with these. I told my neighbours who also have cats and all theirs go mad for them too.

Our 7yr old female loves catnip. She goes crazy with it, running around, rolling around and protecting "her stash" from our other cat. After a mad session she mellows out for a bit.
Our 3yr old male just goes straight to the mellow stage. He rols in it, stretches in it and eats it, but doesn't go crazy.

Got the tortie joining me, my fiancée and our other cat Kato in our new house on the 18th. She was born on the 1st of May (i think)

And here's Kato

Ah kitten fun. I know it well currently. Bruce is continuing to be a delight

10 weeks old and he's learnt how to get up on the worktop :D

He's also worked out how to stop mummy playing on her ipad

Dave is still not a happy boy and isn't coming home for 2 or 3 days at a time. I don't know what more I can do :(

Lola and Bruce are getting there slowly. She's still swiping at him a bit, but he's learnt his place :)

Well, Bella has been totally unreactive to 5 or 6 (lost count :p) catnips toys. Including some "premium Canadian" catnip.

But have just ordered some of this Catac stuff. One final attempt to get her stoned, then I'll give up :p Btw, it's £2.75 inc del on ebay.
