Show us your kitty cats

I got the missus a G-Paws tracker as an early Christmas present and we tried it out last night. We put it on Hetty first and when she came back we uploaded the track.. She went surprisingly far! Across the road and all around the gardens and cycle path over there. Then we put it on Dex and unleashed him in to the wild. I went out a couple hours later to see if he was back and the collar was there, laying on the floor just outside the door! First thing he must have done was pull it off!

The tree is up and Barry is like a cat in winter wonder land just lay under it gazing at the baubles and lights. Next thing he is climbed up to the top of it. Cheeky bugger.

Last year I left Bella at home with mum while I spent two days with my dad and auntie. Was the only time she's spent a night (just one) without me (I'm sure she didn't mind).

This year the plan is to take her over to dad's house, and extend my stay to about 3 days/ 2 nights.

I am slightly concerned about this, however

1. stress for kitty, being shifted to a new place for 3 days, then back again. She hates travelling too.

2. Dad smokes (mum and I don't), and the place has the usual smoker's aroma in all the furniture. Even tho they don't smoke in the same room as me, I still have to wash all my clothes when I get back, because it transers from the sofa.

Will Bella end up stinking of smoke? Transferred from the sofa, etc.

Perhaps I'm worrying for no reason, but my #1 concern is making sure she's OK and not making her miserable for 3 days. Anyone else move their cats to a different house for a couple days a year?

i think my main worry would be that the cat got out and got lost, cats are always washing so its not gonna stink of smoke just after a few days

Personally I wouldn't bother taking her for 3 days if you can leave her with your mum. I look after my mate's cats when they go away and when they're only going for 2 nights I go feed them at their place twice a day.
They both hate traveling and one of them is 9 out of 10 times sick/ poops or both. It's only 5min drive as well.

Mum wants me to take her. She doesn't want to look after her.

If I don't take her, the longest I can spend over at my dad's is one night. And mum says she's looking forwards to having a couple days without either of us around, getting under her skin :p

We've transported our cats over 100 miles to her parents on several occasions for more than a few days several times. It was stressful for them but once settled they enjoyed their new surroundings and met other cats.

On the first occasion I was worried, then I learned not to be too precious.

Can you get your dad to get a feliway plug in and get him to switch it on a few days before. Might help when you get there.

Our cats have always come down to visit the family over Christmas. My parents live about 240 miles away and I've never had a problem with them on the drive. Dex just sleeps as soon as he gets in the car.. Any excuse for an extra snooze I think! Last year we had three cats to take down with us, this year unfortunately we only have two, however we have gained a Border Collie.

My car is going to be full of things for all the animals, with minimal luggage space for me and the missus! I really need to get a roof box..
