Show us your kitty cats

Once again, thank you all so much for your kind words. Last night was bloody terrible. First I saw our good friend and neighbour outside when putting the bins out so told her about poor Garfield. She is another kitty lover and has two of her own and always had a soft spot for Garfield as he was so friendly and cheeky. Telling her made me relive it again so that was me in pieces yet again. I may be a 6'2" 18 stone grumpy old Cornishman but I am a big softie at heart and love my babies. When we went to bed I usually watch tv until midnight or a bit later and Garfield was always on my lap curled up having cuddles but obviously he wasn't there. I did wake up this morning though to find Abby curled up against me. She usually doesn't come onto the bed until the wife get's up for work at 04.30 so that was nice. Abby or Toots as we mostly call her has been all over me since Garfield has been gone almost as if she knows I am hurting. Jade, my first and older cat has gone very quiet and quite withdrawn but she was quite friendly with Garfield so she has been getting extra fussing over which she loves. It's weird, I keep thinking that I hear him calling and expect to see him when I turn around. The cheeky chap is probably haunting me.

@nitram100 Martin, you and Cleo are more than welcome to it. It's better it goes to another sweetie that has this terrible condition than sitting in the cupboard not getting used. Hopefully it will be with you tomorrow just as it's supposed to be.

Hey buddy hope you're doing ok, what you've described there is my worst nightmare right now, can't imagine how you're feeling. It's good you have the other furballs to keep you company!

Just wanted to say thank you so much for the food for Cleo, it all arrived this afternoon, can't thank you enough! All the best man, take care!

Only just caught up on this, so sorry to hear your news @pastymuncher

RIP Garfield

Animals are a very good judge of human character, how Garfield reacted to you in such a short period shows how you improved his life so significantly.
The best thing we can do for them is to do the best for them throughout their lives and as much as its hard, send them off at the right time, avoiding unnecessary pain at the end.

Virtual man hug from me

I don't think we could use a carrier for Ronnie -even Vet said Bloody hell he's heavy

Sorry to hear about Garfield - We had a cat with HIV and I think we left it just too long - we got home one day from work and he could just manage to walk to corner of house - We took him in that night.

It really is the hardest thing to do - In three week time it will be a year since we took Holly in - we still think about her every day.

Once again, thank you so much for all the kind words, they really are appreciated. This is by far the best thread on this forum and shows the forum at it's best when a bunch of like minded people come together.

On the subject of cats and bags, Jade and Abby will both run a mile if we rustle a carrier bag anywhere near them. Leve one lying around though and they will play with it and even get in it. Cat's really are strange sometimes.

@pastymuncher Belated condolences regarding Garfield. I don't check in here too often as it's these sorts of tales that make me a complete mess truth be told.

We've got a little girl called Snowi (16) and fat boy Timbo (15) who are both on renal food but are okay.

Bugger, that's a 57 year old completely blubbing here now - the missus will wonder what the hell is going on and call me a daft softie any moment...

So sorry - I wish you all the very best going forward.

@Mr Blonde Many thanks for the kind words, they are much appreciated. It's been 5 days now and I still can't stop thinking of him and occasionally bursting into tears and I'm 54. Jade has stopped being so withdrawn and is gradually going back to her old self and Abby is all over me all the time, even at night when we are trying to sleep!! It's still not the same though and is like there is a big part of us missing. Not looking forward to Wednesday when his ashes should be ready to be picked up.

I hope your Snowi and Timbo have a long and happy life. Strangely, my next door neighbour and good friend has a female called Snowy who is mainly white with the odd small black bit here and there. She has a huge fat male called Wispa too and he looks like a barrel with legs. Seriously, picking him up to remove him from the house almost gives you a hernia. :D

Aww those are some good thoughts and those two cats do sound very similar to ours. We call Snowi some sickly cute girlie names and Timbo's usually either, Fatty, Lump or Stinker most of the time. I've shouted out into the garden, "Oy, Stinker!!" or "Fatty!!" in a loud voice at night for all the neighbours to chuckle at on more than one occasion...the real laugh is, he knows all his names and he saunters back in :D. We love them both equally though, for their individual personalities, daft traits, odd smells and the way they just are. It really is a funny old world but I never wanted kids and I've never had any, but these little things somehow seem to do a very similar job for us.

Best of luck on Wednesday. Remember him with the affection he undoubtedly deserves and cherish those memories. Frankly, there's not much I have a blub at these days but for family members it's more than just allowed, it's very much a given.

Big hugs to all of you from everyone here.
