Sorry to bring the thread down.

Unfortunately my kitty deteriorated, she just nibbled at food and her coughing afterwards got worse. Bless her she was so thin and weak but still stubbornly dragged herself downstairs to curl up with me last night

Some lovely vets came out today and she left us peacefully and, with the way she was this morning, if there ever was a right time today was it.

We were both petting her as she went to sleep at home.

18 years she was with us, it's broken me. :(

Always sad when they pass, but you gave her a great life. RIP kitty.

RIP. Never gets easy.

May had her visit yesterday and essentially, much much much better. Her eye will just look glassy as the tissue repairs itself, and can take some time. She's down from 7 odd medications between 4-6 times a day and down to just 3 now, 2-3 times a day. A relief. Insurance has paid out for the first claim, which is always reassuring as it's not something we've had to do or deal with before. We'll get the other vet bills claimed in later. Think overall so far we're looking at just shy of £2k. Yikes.

We're trying to delay her breakfast in the morning until 8am to stop her begging for more during the morning. Did that, she wolfed it down and now out of nowhere she's showing signs of the zoomies. It's remarkably impressive for a 12 year to just go jumping around bonking mad

This is great news, except the expense!

An appetite and zoomies are always a good sign. Hope she's fully on the mend :)

So sorry for your loss @adidan , that's heartbreaking. I know it doesn't make it easier but she lived a good life.
After each loss I always say to my Mrs I can't go though this again, we are not getting any more cats.
Thanks, yeah she won't be our last but we'll need a fair bit of time first.

I can understand people that get another cat so soon but that's not me. I'll get another house move out of the way before even thinking about it.

The first morning after a restless night set me off a bit. Even not having to go to the litter box to find a proudly displayed turd. Funny the things you miss :)

RIP Kitty -it's always a sad loss.

Ronnie has fell out with us again today - Got his ear drops in while he was on bed then got his pill down him when he came in for food.
Pills seemed to work as he isn't scratching his ear and I can run my finger around base and he didn't flinch.
Hope these Steroids and ear drops work as next step is put him out and then push very fine camera down his ear to see if they can see his ear drum.
To much crud in there at moment and they can't see it.
Trouble now with vet is you can never tell if they are doing their job or sending you of for whatever treatment they can -Of course we are looking at 4 figure bill.

I see opticians are following vet lead -£120 for pair of len's in old frames of my glasses. Posh opticians as I also wanted scan and pictures.

I still get hit by the grief a little bit everyday when I either pull up back at home in my van or the motorbike. So many times he'd hear me and come trotting out to greet me with his saggy belly swinging from side to side. You don't think much about it at the time other than being happy to see him but I'd give anything to see that belly swing again.

Twenty years on, and I still miss when Loki used to be waiting at the door when I got home from work, and he'd jump up onto my shoulder and do head bumps.
