Show us your kitty cats

Is he fat?
If he is not fat, feed him more.

If he is fat or getting fat, then hold the food.

Some owners feed their cats too much, even though they know that their pet is overweight. This is wrong.
 
I would give him more if he's a big (as in long/muscular, not fat) cat - although that is how much my two get each.

If he was a stray before he might be more inclined to eat more as he's not out of the 'habit' of being a stray, he's 'stocking up' as if he doesn't know where his next meal will be coming from.

Maybe give him another half a pouch at bedtime to keep him going through the night?

I do find though that mine, who have a meat dish and a biscuit dish, will only eat the biscuits if they HAVE to and will miaow round me for more meat all evening. I don't give in though ;)
 
I thought cats just ate however much you put in front of them.

like if you put a weeks worth of food out most of it will be gone on the first day.

He's now eating some biscuits after lots of cuddles, he's not fat or thin...he seems to be normal size.

Ah well, I'll let him get on with it :)

On the contrary, dogs will do that. Cats pick at food, eat a bit, wander off, come back to it when they're hungry later. At least all the cats I've ever had have done that.

I have to feed my Maine ****, 4 sachets of meat a day with biscuits constantly available, he eats like a horse, certainly not fat though :)
 
Phate, you asked about feeding your cat earlier.

If you cat looks like the Tefal's cat, you know that you have gone way too far...
