Not the cat but the aftermath...

I like the black cat.
When they are young, cats have claws like razors - small, thin and sharp.

When I first got my Bengal, I didnt want to cut his claws until he settled down with my Egyptian Mau and for 1-2 weeks, my ankles were covered with razor blade type scratches.

Once he was able to defend himself against my Egyptian Mau, I snipped his razor sharp claws.

The problem is, at that age, these cats don't quite realise how much damage their claws can do and some cats don't know how to retract their claws.

^^Too true - my new leather sofas sadly bore the brunt of two kittens who didn't know how sharp their claws were and couldn't judge how high the sofa they were jumping onto was, even though we covered the sofas in throws with blankets and towels underneath!

We had an interloper today!

Sam went running past and upstairs to hide (little wimp) then heard Poppy growling so looked round kitchen door...

Decided to just watch and see what happened... big cat walked really slowly round the grumbling Poppy, went up to their food dishes, sniffed them, then turned round and slowly walked back out again - no drama, but both of them had bristled their fur up. If it comes in again I'll shoo it out but that's never happened before so wanted to see what would happen!

Can't believe Sam left his little sister to deal with it, it was much bigger than her! :D

So my cat had a gift for us this morning, during the night she gave birth to a kitten... we didn't even know she was preggers! Unfortunately she didn't live for very long, absolutely gutted :( been on the phone to our vets a few times today and they basically said there's nothing they can do and we should just leave her to it. Feel pretty helpless because they've said its unlikely she'll only have one kitten we've just got to keep her comfortable and wait. :(

So approx 12 hours after this happened ^

She had another kitty which is doing great! :D looks amazing too! we're calling it roger, even if its a female!

Here's the kitty :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_-Jn42tS38 :) (I wasn't allowed to call it Roger, so Dave won :D)

I was upstairs this morning when i heard a hell of a commotion in the kitchen. Paws scrabbling for grip on the kitchen laminate followed by a cat snarling closely followed by a dog yelping. Ran downstairs to find Jade, my eldest cat, had cornered a dog in the kitchen and was attacking it. Chased the dog out and my neighbour was outside looking worried. She said the dog had chased Jade across the field, jumped the fence and chased her into the house. Jade usually cowers from trouble but i guess she had had enough. She is fine but there was loads of dog hair all over the place. :D

This particular dog is a menace. It's some sort of poodle/terrier thing. Scabby bloody thing although it's owner says it's a pedigree. Pedigree mongrel maybe. Damn thing is always getting loose and running around the streets. She can't control it and it runs around loose for hours.

The dog owner needs to be careful. If she had damaged your cat, you could've claimed back vet bills (which are usually very expensive). You should tell her to keep her dog leashed when out of the house.

Having a foreign dog in the house (which has cats), is unacceptable.
