I've done the same (turned it on in advance on a cold day before picking someone up) in both my S3 and a 5 GT. I don't think you're going madI'm very sure it was the seat itself as I've also put the heat on before picking someone up if it's cold outside and it's warmed up before them getting in, but just to be sure I'll try and borrow a thermal camera to prove to a bunch of people on the internet that I'm not going mad.

Removed old tints, new roll waiting to go on and painted the alloys Satin Black. Needs nicer headlights (still after 6 years of ownership) and its annual wash must be soon.
