Show Us Your Motors!

It wouldn't have been a problem for me if mine had been a weekend only car, but as a daily drive it got a little tiresome on the way to work. Depends what you're willing to put up with though. Oh, and that's not to say my experience applies to all lowered setups, so don't let me put you off too much.

It's my daily as well hence my reservation.

Aren't there some springs for the 3/3.5 which were the original mazda sport ones, but they had to jack it up for some safety thing - thus they came in as an optional extra... supposed to be better but not overly crashy etc.

That's what I heard as well but was a bit unsure if it applied to the 3.5 also. I know there was a guy from Wheels in Motion saying this but there was no conclusive proof that Mazda jacking up the car for safety reasons was true. Next time I take my car to Mazda, I'll ask them.

Hope u got a warranty with it being a Renault. A guy I work with has had to take his 3yr old Renault back the garage 3 times in a few months for silly things that just break on it that u wouldn't expect.
They are nice looking cars though! Quite rare aswell. Altough a 150bhp diesel should not have twin exhausts it's hardly a sports coupe :p

With recent hip troubles, my mother has found it increasingly difficult to drive her Merc C Class, therefore my father has took it upon himself to source a new vehicle that should help her out a little. The miles she does are minimal, some 5,000 a year, but she visits her elderly father regularly who lives in the sticks, and taking the Merc down a two mile dirt track was becoming increasingly tedious and hard work on the car and driver.

We'd kept our options open to essentially anything you can "slide into" but also wanted a little bit of comfort, perhaps more than the C Class could offer, too.

Shortlist included cars such as the Merc ML Class, BMW X Series, Subarus, Toyota Land Cruisers etc. but ultimately the Jeep seemed to provide the most amount of car for the least outlay, by a fair old margin!

This is what we've ended up with, with a little persuasion from myself :D A 4.7 V8 Grand Cherokee. Change out of £1,500. It needs a bit of work, there's some travel and sponging of the brakes, the drivers mirror needs replacing, and the tyres could do with replacing, but this was all factored into the purchase.

This particular model is the 60th Anniversary Edition. We kept our eyes open for the Overland model which we were particularly fond of, but we couldn't find any that met the criteria (or any at all, at some times).

We were fairly close to Essex yesterday by chance and knew this one was close so we went by to check it out, and ended up picking her up. Therefore I had the pleasure of driving it back some 200 miles, on which she performed amicably. All electric are fully functioning, no gremlins (bar the heated seats, no biggie right now).

Some pictures;

I personally would have went for the landcruiser out of the shortlist.
having done many thousand miles with a Landcruiser Amazon mostly with a large car transporter trailer hooked on the back I can confirm there a big comfy bus to travel in and cracking driving motors. its just the fuel economy that puts most off but I wouldn't say it would have been any worse than the 4.7 Grand Cherokee

Did really fancy the LC however they were substantially more money for much older cars, which was a deal breaker. No doubt very capable cars, mind. I've seen them go for 300,000 miles and more.

Lot of car for the money! Hope it serves her well, try not to borrow and abuse it too much ;)

First wash and polish:

Looking good. I like how they've designed the M4 with a CSL style bootlid already, the chavs will rejoice when the M4 hits £5k and they no longer need to worry about instantly changing the bootlid.
