Show Us Your Motors!

Far from the fastest, most expensive, or best looking on this forum, but here are a few of my first car after a quick maintenance wash. Needs claying and some decent wax, but whats on her at the moment should last till spring.

1.4 E12 Corolla. Loving driving it at the moment, no rocketship but its certainly enough for me whilst I still learn more advanced driving and gain experience.

Apologies for crappy angles/colours/whatever (esp the wall and awful lighting for interior shot), I'm no photographer! Didnt get round to vacuuming the mats, cordless Dyson ran out of juice....typical.

Looks tidy. :)

Does that model have the auto dipping mirror, rain sensing wipers etc? I'm not familiar with the other models...

95HP from a 1.4 isn't that bad really, I'm sure it will do for first car duties. How many miles/how much paid?

Interior shot is fine. :p

It is! :p But then she has lower mileage, the previous owner wasn't a chav and paid a bit more for mine and got a lot less performance.

None at all, though there are a few stone chips and one small scrape from the previous owner that I need to touch-up because I'm paranoid about them rusting.

No and no regarding mirrors and wipers. I don't even have the two tweeters in the doors. I *think* models are something like T1 < T2 < T3 < Colour Collection < T-Sport < Compressor.

The Colour Collection was based on the T3, and had a few 'add-ons'. The following is from the press release :p "In addition, the hatchback models enjoy extra sporting style with a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearshift, carbon fibre-style trim details, ancillary audio controls mounted on the steering wheel, side skirts and a rear air dam. As a final detail, a Colour Collection badge on the rear denotes the cars’ special status."

I got her at just over 55k miles for £1995 (including a new alternator as I found that had a fault on purchasing). Autotrader currently values her at £2.4k, but then you can get good condition T1/2/3 1.6s and 1.8s with vaguely comparable mileage for ~£1.5-2k so I have no idea if I overpaid/underpaid/whatever. Insurance and time were factors though, I ended up being very rushed with car purchases due to a change in circumstances.

My only gripe, she only has 4 speakers instead of the 6 available in the higher models, so might try and see if I can find and wire in the two tweeters that live in the door sails (if I can get the parts cheap), but I am quite surprised at the audio quality.

So you can get a good 1.4 for £2.4K or a good facelift T-Sport for £2.4K according to Autotrader... Makes sense :p

Yeah, bit puzzling.

Don't worry guys, deflectors, cut coilovers (40mm wasn't enough), tints, blue headlights and a phat spoiler are in the hall ready to go on tomorrow.

Im worried about the speed bumps, I clear them fine at the moment, and dont know if going 3cm lower would cause me to hit them.

those pics show mine running eibach sportline kit at -35mm,
wish I had gone for the 25mm kit instead as the centre sills scrape fairly harshly on steep short ramps.

Don't start, the Mazda looks wrong because it looks like an MPS on stilts, lowering it to MPS ride height will complete the look, and everyone usually says that GT86's ride too high... :p

GT86 also needs spacers. Wind deflectors won't work because of the snazzy frame-less windows which drop a little bit when you operate the door handle.

OMG. So knowledgeable.

;)

Acme, where were you when Toyota were spending millions on R&D with the GT86?

You could've saved them an absolutely fortune!

Take it you catch a few on your way to pick up yet more fantasy cars?

Regardless, a 0-60 is completely valid whether it's 2 seconds or 2 minutes, it's still a relevant metric.

What does your bus do it in?

Sorry fantasy cars? Yes It's bloody hard to believe someone at a young age could be driving such nice cars!! Get a grip before making such accusations.

But then again, there's a word for people like you with 55,000 posts on an internet website.

un resonated of coursed :)

full miltek system and remap netted me 13.5bhp so not bad.

sounds loud and low when cold starting but runs quieter after a minute. sounds fine whilst driving around, nice bit of murmer but at higher revs sounds great :)

japspeed catless manifold in april and another remap than wheels later on.

Indeed, not too bad a gain for an NA engine I guess. Does it help improve the midrange any? Generally I'm happy with the power output, but it would be nice to lessen that flat feeling at about 4k RPM.

I know, its their loss though. :p

In seriousness though, they look so much better with a small drop and a little bit of spacing. See here and tell me I'm wrong: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=703273#post703273

Such a small change, but it improves the look so much.

The spacers do indeed improve the "stance" (hate that word) a fair bit, but I'd rather not install them I car there's any undue effect on the geometry.

Sadly it does nothing to help the torque dip, thats the manifold throttling it there. Ive seen dyno graphs of manifolds giving 30-40hp at 3.5-4k revs with a max bhp gain of around another 15bhp in total with a remap.
