If that's a completely standard pic then I take it all back and offer my amazement at what a stunning example it is

Not going to lie you had me tempted to just go with it. But here it is before it was even touched. So this is ZERO processing so overblown highlights and all.

She still looks good ;)

Looks good, indeed. Looks better than with the processing IMO :P
Agree with the other sentiments, Id much prefer to see the cars without processing :)

Thank's guys always nice to see the aching muscles after the hours cleaning pays off. It then had a big bird poop down the side of it today though :p

Astra Elite Nav 1.6 136PS diesel auto

Standard kit incl full leather, heated front & rear seats and s/wheel, OnStar, dual climate, sat Nav, DAB, BT, rear USB, auto lights, etc

Options on this vehicle: 18" wheels, parking pack (parking sensors, auto parking and rear camera), tinted rear windows, and spare wheel.

136PS doesnt sound like a lot of power, but the new Astra has been engineered to be very light. It's also the same power as a Merc C200d... It's actually quicker to 60mph than the Insignia I had before.

Coming from an Insignia it will be interesting to see how I get on with it, particularly size-wise. The boot is much smaller, but hopefully it will be OK! :)

I got mine washed today...too much effort to do myself and the paintwork isn't great anyway so hand car wash guys can swirl away.

They are good fun even with standard engines although they aren't exactly cheap to buy now (solid ones).

Nice! My paintwork is awful up close but it's a project car so i'm fine with that.

Yeah they seem to be going for a lot recently, luckily mine is solid, never been welded either but the engine needed loads of work now it's time for me to spend some time with the bodywork.

Yours a standard 8v GTi?

I've had some welding done on mine but it's nice and solid underneath unlike quite a few friends mk2s.

Engine is a standard 8v yeah, aside from a cone filter but that's for practical reasons rather than anything else. I have some projector headlights and they are much longer than standard ones so were fouling on the airbox and battery. Cone filter and battery in the boot sorted that.

At some stage I do plan on changing the engine but I'm undecided between ABF and 1.8T currently, both have their merits but that can wait a while. I've had it for over 2 years, it was off the road for 8 months 2014-2015 and I still enjoy the digi 8v lump so no point pulling it out yet...oh and it's my only car, sod separate 'project' cars. :p

I've dropped an ABF in mine and my has a 1.8T in his. It's sooo fast in a straight line. But aslo much quicker than the 8v 1.8 that I pulled out. Today was the first time I've properly driven her, had it since September. I've got another car, my little Polo that was my 17th birthday present.

One of my friends had a 1.8T at around 250hp iirc, it was rapid and handled well, looked completely stock/factory too which was nice. Another has an ABF which I've not been out in yet but I understand is quick and good fun on track.
I've got various plans for mine before I decide on the engine, just need to experience more cars with both engines to help (or make the choice harder). :D

picked it up about a week ago.

Discovery Landmark 3.0 SDV6 in Zanzibar. Comes with everything you could want (and likely don't need) including TVs all round, heated steering wheel and plush carpets (which are going to get destroyed!).
