Show Us Your Motors!

As nice as the new Insignia looks let's not forget these images are going to be from the top spec model and are not representative of the 99% of povert spec models that will soon litter the motorways complete with a nice 140bhp tractor engine, drab cloth grey interior and 16 inch casters for wheels.
Everytime I see the current Insignia or the new Mondeo in standard form I cringe at the tiny wheels on them that just spoil the whole car. Imo any new biggish car should come with at least 18's on nowadays
I have a feeling a VXR model would look epic in that new shape though let's hope they produce one
I'll go against this and say that actually, i don't see the point in the VXR models of these cars. The point in an Insignia is to be an economical (in all regards) yet large and comfortable mile muncher. Small wheels with large profile tyres fit this profile perfectly providing very good ride quality and cheap tyres. Fitting large wheels to a Vauxhall is just dumb. This comes from a Vauxhall owner, i am not in any way being belittling the brand.

I also happen to have 2 Mercedes cars with 19" wheels and low profile tyres, and you know what, they ride badly and the tyres cost a fortune. No thanks on a car like an Insignia.

The initial product offer has 1x17" (for low CO2 models), 2x 18" and one 20". :)

Jez - I dont believe there will be a VXR version. There is however a 2.0T 260PS with auto and AWD which looks pretty cool.

While on paper a fast Insignia is obviously better than a slow one, it'll surely just pointlessly drink? I dont mind that on an SL55 but i certainly wouldn't want an uneconomical Insignia :)

(New model looks very good by the way, a very good looking car to be fair).

Saying what's the point of a VXR Insignia is like saying what's the point in an M5 or S4 etc. People with kids in need of a big boot who like cars will still want something different that looks sporty and accelerates rapidly instead of the mundane line up of minicab engines riding on 16's.

By the same logic, does that make the Focus ST and Focus RS pointless?

Since when was a Focus a large and comfortable mile muncher?
I have a mk2 and do 30k a year in it, it's sort of comfortable but definitely not a mile muncher! Had I not had a carrot dangling in front of me with the promise of work being 2 miles from home I'd have replaced it long ago.

Ideal for everyone who hates those stuck-on tablet style infotainment screens...

Apparently you sit much lower than in the current car.

It's similar to the new Astra which I found worked pretty well. Favourite feature was the automatic heated seats which are also available on this car. :)

Looks really nice that.

Yeah but even with a powerful engine it won't make it a nicer drive in my opinion. Dunno really but the old insignia I've had as hire cars have been a bit boat like with pretty light steering.

No R8 will ever be as cool as a Polo. :p
I fear you're right and seem we have a few Polo threads of late too, though it seems more about them been broken into or stopping at traffic lights, but still, we have the big Mo. There are 2 MX'5 out of scene too, but I don't want to set people off with too much excitement.

Now you just need a classic car to complete the set... BMW 3.0CSi?

I met a chap couple of weeks back at a private function who had a collection from heaven. Never met him before, friend of a friend and he had all the supercars, hyper cars, 9 GT/RS 911's of different types and some astonishing stuff.....but then we go on talking about the 80's. He had gone out and bought up all the hot hatches of our generation, including all flavours of Clio Williams, 205's, GTE's, XR's etc. Epic stuff, much be fantastic to have such money to just go buy what you want from your childhood. I managed to do that with home computers, where I outbid anyone on the best stuff, but that's a few hundred quid, this guy must have spent millions filling his collection.
