I love it. You don't need to get 20" wheels, the 19" ones look decent to be fair.

The Mk3 does feel wider imo, and the interior is obviously far more modern, the minimalistic style really suit the car. Also get all the fancy drive select options - on the TTS you get to control the Quattro system and even make it rear wheel bias.

While I love the interior & tech in general I do feel like in some areas it's not as good build quality as the mk2. The materials used on the door for example, don't feel the same.

Another big upgrade between mk2 & mk3 is the headlights. Full LED headlights are amazing, the difference compared to normals xenon is really noticeable.

Yeah, I really like the new dash and the seats...OMG...they're heaven compared to the Mk2 - which are full leather and sag, I don't like them and would have the part leather anyday. They're also more supportive in the Mk3 than Mk2 and in they should really be slightly more bucket like I think (mk2). Some of the tech is great, I'll agree but there's something about the shape I just don't like and I'm not 100% sure what yet...

I think it could do with being a bit lower. Mine seems to sit really quite high - but the 20" wheels probably don't help with that. Where as the mk2 sat perfect on s-line/S/RS suspension with very little arch gap.

Yep the seats are so much more comfy but you're right, more bucket like on the mk2 and I'd say more bolster.

+1

If I had the cash available, I would switch my TTs seats for the S3 seats

I think that might be it actually, the arch gap on the Mk2 is smaller than the Mk3 so it looks like a higher ride. 19" and lowered would help I think. You'd think they'd try and keep some kind of similarities between them eh...

Nope, USA has 25 year rule for imported used cars. There is a list of cars which are exempt for show/display use only and a very limited number of R34 are on that list. The rest are imported illegally, usually registered in FL with tampered paperwork.

Seems very stupid when there are far more polluting cars, far faster cars, and far less safe cars, all of which are perfectly legal. I've never understood why the R34 isn't. Or indeed why most "illegal imports" are illegal.

It's the same in Australia. MCM weren't allowed to import an AWD Mira, so they cut it in half, imported it as two half cuts, and have used 90% of it to turn an Australian market Mira into a car which is identical to the one they weren't allowed to import. Lunacy.

They're illegal because they wanted to protect the interests of their dwindling domestic manufacturers, among other reasons. You may remember how 'imports' had Detroit in a very dire situation for quite some time.

My replacement lease car has been delayed so I needed a short term car for when I hand my Golf R back in a couple of weeks. I was looking around on Autotrader for something appropriate and spotted this 120d M-Sport for £10k - it's spotless, has xenon lights and doesn't have runflats :) :)

That looks like a fantastic buy for 10k!

I didn't notice it mentioned in the advert until you posted. I had it on my previous F20 and it was a useful option, but I'm not planning on keeping it for longer than 3 months so I'm not too bothered.
