Not bothered about the panels at all tbh if it blisters it blisters mine is very well looked after hand wash only (manual tells you that some did not read the manual used a jetwash...that does not help the blistering!). Kept under a 10 layer breathable soft lined heavy duty cover. Whatever will be will be! Lotus now go as far as pay for not only the panels to be replaced but also a supercar specialist bodyshop to blend the surrounding panels if it does not match properly. Mine is Hethel Yellow its a simple single colour so easy to match if it ever needs that plus I got an Angelwax Nebula graphene ceramic coating put on it to help keep the water away (beading is insane on this thing!).Don’t forget Audi and Alpine also but in defence of Ferrari, Lambo and other brands except McLaren the paint issues tend to take years to show, whereas Lotus it’s been months simply as their QC is very poor and lots of horror stories with poor repairs also, similar issue at Aloine as well with dealers doing very poor repair jobs. Got a couple of friends with Emiras and both are having issues from water leaking into cabin, AC not working, paint issues etc in short Lotus made lots of promises but fell very short especially on early cars, fingers crossed yours been a late 24 build it’s better put together.
Auto100 took a load of Emiras from Lotus cheap as Lotus could not shift them, that’s rumour anyway.
Alpine having similar issues with corrosion poor manufacturing and thus corrosion issues a year or two down line but they do have a 12yr corrosion warranty so better than most others, Ferrari is 3yr for example but Alpine are poor at sorting it from poor blending of panels and then making of difficult to sort quite hit and miss.
Enjoy it they are great looking things.
Yep V6 Emira have a few problems.....to be fair Lotus are not ignoring & fixing any issues (at their cost). The recent i4s like mine seem to have fewer if any issues.
As for Alpine...hmm I really wanted an A110 but only in Emerald Green...as all 110 had been sold they did not want my business so went for the Emira instead. Alpine - Renault I think are even worse than Lotus for addressing issues...so Lotus got my had earned cash in the end.
As for Auto 100 the deal they did was agree to take all the ex demo & or Lotus director employee scheme Emira (Lotus Cars are the only previous owner on all of them) but they had to also use the Lotus Cars finance house as part of the deal. All the Emira I checked out in their warehouse had no panel issues all looked pristine (some had been sent to JCT600 for warranty work to be addressed before offering for sale). Think they sold a good 20-25 in the last few weeks. Its a great deal as lets face it the Emira is a gorgeous looking car but simply not worth the £87-92K asking price new. Original RRP was £60K for that yep I think its a great sports car with super car looks & some exotic appeal.
If anyone wants one do not wait too long once they are gone they are gone only factory orders in 2025 for i4 thats close to £100K with the new VED £5480 punishment for wanting a nice looking car! V6 are 2026 but it seems they are gone forever its unlikely Toyota make a new batch of engines & gearboxes by then.
Also worth mentioning that the 2025 spec Emira has even more performance (this is the factory order one you would receive from today onwards). 0-100 8 secs. 0-60 3.4 secs ridiculous performance approaching serious supercar levels for a little less £££ mine is already silly fast ingear performance is insane god knows how much faster the 2025 spec will feel!
