Show Us Your Motors!

Don’t forget Audi and Alpine also but in defence of Ferrari, Lambo and other brands except McLaren the paint issues tend to take years to show, whereas Lotus it’s been months simply as their QC is very poor and lots of horror stories with poor repairs also, similar issue at Aloine as well with dealers doing very poor repair jobs. Got a couple of friends with Emiras and both are having issues from water leaking into cabin, AC not working, paint issues etc in short Lotus made lots of promises but fell very short especially on early cars, fingers crossed yours been a late 24 build it’s better put together.

Auto100 took a load of Emiras from Lotus cheap as Lotus could not shift them, that’s rumour anyway.

Alpine having similar issues with corrosion poor manufacturing and thus corrosion issues a year or two down line but they do have a 12yr corrosion warranty so better than most others, Ferrari is 3yr for example but Alpine are poor at sorting it from poor blending of panels and then making of difficult to sort quite hit and miss.

Enjoy it they are great looking things.
Not bothered about the panels at all tbh if it blisters it blisters mine is very well looked after hand wash only (manual tells you that some did not read the manual used a jetwash...that does not help the blistering!). Kept under a 10 layer breathable soft lined heavy duty cover. Whatever will be will be! Lotus now go as far as pay for not only the panels to be replaced but also a supercar specialist bodyshop to blend the surrounding panels if it does not match properly. Mine is Hethel Yellow its a simple single colour so easy to match if it ever needs that plus I got an Angelwax Nebula graphene ceramic coating put on it to help keep the water away (beading is insane on this thing!).

Yep V6 Emira have a few problems.....to be fair Lotus are not ignoring & fixing any issues (at their cost). The recent i4s like mine seem to have fewer if any issues.

As for Alpine...hmm I really wanted an A110 but only in Emerald Green...as all 110 had been sold they did not want my business :rolleyes:so went for the Emira instead. Alpine - Renault I think are even worse than Lotus for addressing issues...so Lotus got my had earned cash in the end.

As for Auto 100 the deal they did was agree to take all the ex demo & or Lotus director employee scheme Emira (Lotus Cars are the only previous owner on all of them) but they had to also use the Lotus Cars finance house as part of the deal. All the Emira I checked out in their warehouse had no panel issues all looked pristine (some had been sent to JCT600 for warranty work to be addressed before offering for sale). Think they sold a good 20-25 in the last few weeks. Its a great deal as lets face it the Emira is a gorgeous looking car but simply not worth the £87-92K asking price new. Original RRP was £60K for that yep I think its a great sports car with super car looks & some exotic appeal.

If anyone wants one do not wait too long once they are gone they are gone only factory orders in 2025 for i4 thats close to £100K with the new VED £5480 punishment for wanting a nice looking car! V6 are 2026 but it seems they are gone forever its unlikely Toyota make a new batch of engines & gearboxes by then.

Also worth mentioning that the 2025 spec Emira has even more performance (this is the factory order one you would receive from today onwards). 0-100 8 secs. 0-60 3.4 secs ridiculous performance approaching serious supercar levels for a little less £££ mine is already silly fast ingear performance is insane god knows how much faster the 2025 spec will feel!

Love the Emira. What is the powertrain like, I’m really curious as this type of vehicle has been an old V6 since forever?

Don’t worry about small issues. Both of my Lotus had little issues. Don’t remember what they all were, had a decent dealer. It’s part of buying from a smaller brand imo, although in my experience QC has transformed massively for the better over the last decade. Doesn’t take away from the unmatched driving experience.
Powertrain is stonking! It screams the engine & the turbo makes a lovely combined noise sounds like an F1 car from the bygone era where they could still make some noise! Engine revs to 7200RPM its a real superstar based on the AMG A45s engine but detuned slightly to avoid going faster than the V6...but it feels way faster than a mere 360 bhp & 430nm torque! Turbo is gigantic no wonder it produces so much power & noise!

I think the engine was a fantastic choice & it also comes with the AMG 8 speed semi auto gearbox which is pretty seamless in Auto mode (mine needs the latest firmware update to remove the double select latency issue).

I have factory fitted twin titanium tipped exhausts. The sound it makes in Sport or Track mode is ok not too loud just a nice little sound....but the engine roars & screams it really lets you know its behind you & means some serious business :D

2025 spec Emira i4 is even faster they have tuned it so it approaches supercar performance now!

Driven to the Isle of Skye for a few days, via Glencoe. Some absolutely mega roads and some proper treacherous conditions at times. Arrived at night in a full on blizzard, but what a place.

The AMG unit even detuned in 360PS form is quicker than the V6 by quite some, mainly due to the 8SP DCT box as the V6 is quite a bit off the pace, particular as a manual, I came away from my V6 test drive and cancelled my order I was thoroughly unimpressed, but I was buying as a weekend car for fun drives, not a daily and for me it only had the looks and sound, performance was a major let down and handling/feel not as good as Evora or a patch on my Exige and the old Porsche I drove to my test drive in.

The AMG is the better car, shall get some seat time in one for sure be interesting to see how it compares to the A110S and Cayman R as the V6 Emira did not come close, but having heard a couple of AMG powered ones in person they certainly don't sound like any F1 cars I've ever heard and certainly not from a bygone era, still the AMG will for sure be a nicer driver than V6 Emira. :)

Incar is all the F1 sound not externally as the engine is not far behind your head & you really hear it all screaming in unision when you floor it plus the induction roar :D Externally you cannot hear much at all but that's fine by me!

V6 manual is a great wasted shame they also do a V6 auto but its stuck with the Toyota box mated to it....the new 2025 i4 has even more ridiculous performance :D hope you enjoy your test drive anyway. There are several firmware updates (main dealer only can download them onto the i4) which improve latency in the i4 gearbox & remove the ridiculous double shift delay from N to D to R (not all cars have the updates- mine still needs it and its a recent Aug 2024 build) but once applied it makes the gearbox seamless like it should have been since day 1! Right now you need to apply a LOT of pressure to the brake pedal to move between R-D-N (by design - weird they thought it would be a good idea!).

Aero on this car is so impressive! When your driving along it pushes the rain away it never settles hence no need for a rear wiper blade. Black pack also looks great nice contrast to the Hethel Yellow (its an optional paid for extra the full black pack has several glossy black panel areas). These pics were taken 2 days ago in New Years day storms had to endure a few monsoons :eek:on the drive home but the Emira was flawless & seemed at home in some very heavy rain!!

Very Nice! I would be interested to know what's changed from the old model, I guess its just a facelift and new wheels? Has the inside changed much?

Mine is a 2021 - Cracking cars :D

1.jpg
inside chnages are the new infotainment, bigger screen, much more responsive

all the chrome bits , door handles, controls etc are now like a satin titanium finish

the dash cloth is now the same as the seats rather than the suede effect

say goodbye to the fake engine noise, thats gone and the exhaust in sport has little over runs

20bhp more so up to 262 ish and they have tweaked the gearbox as its much more responsive in normal mode, so with the little bump in power it generally feels more lively and willing in normal driving

and a few more extras chucked in as standard so wireless charging, blind spot indicators in the lights, and some simply clever stuff chucked in, a brolly in each front door now! cargo net set and the little mini waste bin

And not one normal car to just do life in. and the yaris and alpine got sold yet ‘were sublime’ Tbh it’s just a churn of cars and not really understanding any of the purchase decisions or why you spend so much taxing and insuring so many cars. Sorry just had to say it as it really perplexes me why every car is amazing then sold within 3 months.

Merry Xmas
Forgive me if I'm interpreting you wrongly here but I'm detecting a hint of envy or something?

So what if Gibbo or indeed anyone else buys and sells plenty of cars, good luck to them ultimately!

Put it this way, he had/has the opportunity to try a wide range of vehicles most of which are the kind many of us rarely even see out in the road never mind own for a while and get to appreciate...

The list of cars Gibbo has owned is quite something and will I'm sure grow further (I've long since given up trying to keep up tbh :D ) and be it via his YouTube channel or his input to this forum, his experiences and knowledge of such a variety of cars only adds to the benefit of the community be it here or in the YouTube world.

I'd far rather he or anyone else shared a variety of experiences as opposed to waxing lyrical about one particular car endlessly which their minds eye may be fantastic but a bit meh to the rest of us.

As I say, apologies if I misunderstood your comment and in the meantime I'll look forward to Gibbo getting serious and giving us some diesel estate cars to drool over.... :p :D
