Show Us Your Motors!

Its a very good looking, performing, sounding, and handling supercar which offers much better value for money than many of its rivals?

Clearly aesthetics is a matter of personal opinion, so there's no point getting upset about someone else's opinion on that. :)

I'm not quite sure what people see in the R8...I really can't see anything nice about it :(

You aren't alone, i don't like them either. My neighbour has 2nd gen plus model and it doesn't do a lot for me at all. This really says something coming from an enthusiast like myself. Its not that i dislike them, its more that a car at this price point should wow me, and these do not.

The second gen is very transformers i think if that makes sense

box shapes, edges everywhere, inside is nice but all new cars are.

I think in this part of the market you have two choices: either something that looks fantastic but is flawed for everyday usage, or something like the R8 which looks (relatively) more ordinary but which is easy to use day to day. Makes perfect sense for such a car to be badged an Audi of course.

well it is an audi and theyre never as mad as lambos or sexy like ferraris.. they're always very german with their styling. That's one of the reasons why r8 is often called the "everyday" supercar. Because it does it all and blends in well.

The R8 is a great looking and sounding car, but if I was buying new I'd be struggling to justify it over a Huracan (I know it's more expensive and largely the same car, but still).

A guy who lives near me has a latest model R8 V10+ and it sounds absolutely awesome. It's blue but looks a bit lighter than the one Regy has.

Wow, there isn't as much in it price wise as I thought there would be.

Guessing the Lambo's will hold value better because of what they are though.

I think buying an R8 V10 Plus at list price is a crazy thing to do. Unless you are getting a big discount (read 20K plus) off a new one or buying nearly new at around 100K you are going to take a bath. Dealers are now selling the current model Plus versions 2nd hand around 100K for early cars and I would expect owners to be bid something in the mid 80K's for those cars. So if you had spent 150K new, driven it for 6K miles and sold it back for say 90K, you have taken a serious bath. I could not justify that sort of loss, it would make me cry in pain so that is why I would not buy a new one unless the deal was underwritten by someone else. Most people who have driven the base Huracan and the new R8 will tell you the R8 is the better car and it would not come with Lambo service costs either but people usually want a badge. Badges don't bother me, it's why I can happily drive around in a Polo or MX5 without feeling my manhood reduced.

I bought the R8 because at 86K for a V10 with 550bhp and a well sorted chassis there was nothing close to the event and enjoyment. Special cars make you want to get up and drive at 5am on a Sunday morning and frankly my first M3, mt GT3 and the R8 are the only cars that have made me want to do that. Those who have driven the Plus model who enjoy a connected drive will tell you how good they are. Harris suggested it was one of if not the best cars of 2013 and I drove it not expecting to buy it or even like it, but I did and that is why I bought it. Everyone will tell you how to spend your money and what they would do in your situation....until they get there.

I buy cars that I can easily afford, aren't going to hurt me in 12 months and make me want to drive them all the time. If I can't get all of that then it's just some car....or too expensive to justify it which is why I don't have a McLaren 570S.

I don't doubt the R8 is a better car, I'm going mainly on aesthetics (perhaps that's related to the badge to a degree). I wonder how much different the service costs are? Knowing Audi I don't expect them to be servicing an R8 in line with their normal rates...

Of course in the position I would test all cars I was interested in before buying anything.

I think the point I was making is that the Huracan is actually 60K more in the real world. Lot of cash when you consider I only paid 86K.
