What?

There is nothing in my user manual that suggests use of launch control voids warranty coverage and it's an advertised feature of the car. A pointless one I've used all of once, but a feature all the same.

I just love that a 530D has launch control. :p

Is it an option? Could someone spec it on their 116D?

I've had the 340i just over a year and I've never launched it... Should i have done? :p I've heard horror stories of Nissan voiding warranties as soon as a car has been launched once so I was always scared to do it in mine :(

I've launched the S3 twice. The first time caused a gearbox malfunction warning to flash up on screen (no idea what went wrong, nothing actually broke, Audi confirmed that nothing was actually wrong with it). The second time worked as it should, and my god! @mjt says it's pointless with only 150BHP, but the difference between a standing idle start (in sport), and using launch is that pronounced, I'd imagine that even with only 150BHP you'd see a marked difference, if not just because of the boost build up and "spot-on" clutch release.

Lol most definitely!

In all seriousness. I've heard good things about these guys. And to top it all off you get to drive on the Alpine test track. I plan to head there in the coming months.

Had a few other people point those guys to me. Seems like a good thing to do especiall if you plan on being sideways a lot :p

I've only launched mine once since I've owned it and I loved it, but it's not something I wanna keep doing as it puts stress on the car. As discussed above, there's no official answer on this. If your car is still under warranty, give BMW a call and ask as a general query. Don't give out any details in case they log it and then use it against you on a warranty claim. Also keep in mind, they can see if you launch it, and how many times you've done so. Most people are lead to believe it's there for reviews of the car and not for your everyday driver.

So many beautiful R8s around at the moment

That would do me nicely. Wife says no though :p

In the meantime my AMG is going to need new rears. No idea how I have only gotten 3-4k miles out of them...

I think any Audi RS4/RS6 up is an expensive car to run and own, certainly compared to the equivalent M car. I think at 55k you’ve one hell of a car but be prepared for major running costs. Also the soft tops are not built around people with my 6’1 frame, the new one is just the same so anyone tall (read 6ft up) will struggle to get comfy in one. I did a back to back in the new R8 and could not get a comfy seat in the soft top version as I could not get as low or as far back as the coupe and could never live with one.

Are you going to link to any of them? Because that thing looks atrocious

Must be the color. I always avoid black when buying cars. Aside from being expense to paint in case you get any damage, I think it hides the lines of cars. I usually go for warm colors or just white.

I popped into Derby Audi today and they have an all black version of mine right by the door for sale. It didn't look a patch on mine, black everything just loses so much detail on the car.
