Show Us Your Motors!

I'm a peasant and have 4 cars. Lucky for me my house was built in 1970 which means the road outside my house is not 10cm wide and my front garden is not a strip of tooth floss! Constantly looking at convertibles and the S2000 fits the bill but the problem is the prices on them are going absolutely crazy that the 986 Boxster S and SLK 32 AMG are looking more tempting!

The S2000 is much more fun than both of those cars.

Gtc did not last long. Just not practical so traded it in for this. Engine in this one works like a charm so far... lol.. New plates on order as they are wonky....

I will be removing the badges I hate badges on the back of cars tbh...

The newest Astra isn't that bad and usually a lot cheaper than the alternatives. Buying 3 in quick succession is a bit mental though.

I didn't really.

I had the GTC and traded it for a new Astra Hatch this developed engine issues so it went back and I got my GTC back and then traded the GTC against another Astra the Estate I have now.

Or something like that... lol

Is it even possible to buy a current Astra without a TURBO?

The badges come in different colours to show how "TURBO' your Astra is too.....

I don't understand the Turbo badging on Vauxhalls. It isn't 1980, it's not a rarity or a surprise for a car to have a turbo these days. :p

I must say I think that looks a rather handsome car though. As much as I'm not a massive Vauxhall fan I think they have aced the design on some of the new models. Much better than the outgoing ones, and in a different league to the ones before that.

They use the turbo as a model now. My cars model is “Vauxhall Astra Elite Nav Turbo 200 Sports Tourer” just in case they missed anything.... lol

The colour of the badge shows which turbo version you have. Silver is the 1.0 110PS, Silver with Black highlight is the 1.4 150PS and Silver with Red highlight is the 1.6 200PS engine.

It’s all marketing I imagine someone decided that “Turbo” badges sell cars as lots of manufacturers are doing it now.

tbf the new insignia looks ok, why not go for one of them ?

True story

I have seen a few others with turbo badges or “T” or something similar. Vauxhall are by far the worst and mention it on every car with a turbo.

At least they're not like Audi who still include the fact that the engines have electronic fuel injection in their badging! :p

I looked at a couple with the 1.5 turbo engine but was not fussed. The Astra with the 200hp engine is considerably quicker especially in gear acceleration. Tbh 0-62 in 7.2 Seconds is more than enough in a family estate. They are also quite a bit more money especially if you want all the bits the Astra comes with. As this is essentially a kid and dog carrier and is more than big enough I did not see the point. They do look nice though....

I guess there are a lot of cars around now that have a turbo so advertising the fact seems pretty pointless. Whenever I see it on cars (as you mentioned on a lot of Vaxuhall's) it reminds me of something from the 80's or 90's where the turbo was relatively uncommon - The Astra turbo.

Agreed the insignia looks decent from the outside but they all feel so cheap and tacky on the inside. I know they are a more budget manufacturer but they don't seem to be much better than something from the likes of Suzuki.
