Flawed road car, but electric on the right road and track, once you are used to it's weight bias which does show itself.
I fortunately get to drive my dads 996 Turbo quite often and whilst it's ballistic in a straight line I never feel like I want to throw it into a corner like I do my MX5. The GT3 just seems like an MX5 but better in every way (other than being a hard top :D).

Night and day the GT3 and Turbo, though as a road car the Turbo is the much more sorted and pliant. The 996 GT3 used to want to throw you off the road all the time and needed to be managed all the time, no rest in one. On PH back in the day everyone used to say how much quicker the Turbo was in a straight line...which I then showed them it wasn't at a runaway event. Happy times :D

I do love the 996, more so than the 997.

Stunning car Housey
It was a great car, sadly I think it's no more... :(

Like this one, ethereal

No it doesn't. Those headlights are utterly ghastly. They were at release and they've certainly not gotten better with age.

Though I still think the 996 looks great, I will agree the headlights were always its biggest let down and is the single reason why I'd never buy a 996, not only that I also quite disliked the handling of the 996 Carreras, yes the GT3's were much improved and Housey's GT3 tried to kill me at least 23 times on my drive in it and it certainly put me off buying one, so I got an M3 CSL instead, which for me was a much better car.

Here is my 997.1, I think it just looks a vastly superior car to the 996 and also has much cleaner looks and is definitely more 911 in it looks than the 996 was:

The 996s biggest problem was the way the 997 instantly made it look like a car designed in 1990, rather than 1998.

Very true, the 997 was far nicer inside and drove so much better as well, it was simply a slam dunk. Just a shame they all have the chocolate engines, until you get to 997.2 anyway.
