Another pic from my trackday in Dec as no real driving has been done in the Supra since. *sigh*

Just been getting used to how it drives and all the various settings and functions but looking forward to lockdown being lifted so we can take it for a proper drive.

That looks lovely.

I really like these and often find myself browsing AT for one to replace the trusty C-Class family smoker, then struggle to get over the fact they are over twice the money of the similar aged car I'm replacing. They've really held their money well!

Welcome to the club, I picked up my first BMW, a 430D two weeks ago, & I'm still grinning :D

Lovely car!

Here's something you might not know yet and will really like - I've shown about 4 BMW owners this and they were surprised - the number buttons 1 to 8 below the CD slot are capacitive touch as well as normal buttons and have 3 functions:

- touch one of the buttons (but don't press) and it will display on the screen what function is currently programmed
- short press one of the buttons and it will select what function is currently assigned to that button
- long press one of the buttons and it will program/assign the current function to that button

For example navigate to the split screen option and long press a button and now you can toggle between full nav display and split screen. Another one I like is being able to switch the display off completely (at night usually) without scrolling through the options - again as before navigate to the display off function and long press a button to assign it. These are what I've set on my 640d: Home destination, work destination, split screen, display off, Deezer, local radio station, stored media and one still unassigned. If you forget what's assigned to what button just touch (not press!) each one and scroll across them until you find the button you want.

I hope you are calling it "PEA" :)

Looks really nice. Would love something like this for the caravan pulling duties however we decided to keep the Superb for that and opt for an ID3 instead.

Lovely!

What makes the 997 so enjoyable is the size, they are small by modern car standards, particular compared to a 991 series and they are now holding money and in some cases strengthening, good on its been a 2006 less engine issues, only worry is bore scoring.

Thanks Mr G! Yeah I think it was safe 'investment' choice of 911 to go for, the 996's still throwing up bills, the 991's still depreciating. That said, a 991 turbo is on the cards down the line to replace this and the M4 I feel, 48hrs with this and I love it. Not the fastest car in the world by any means, but just so well balanced and put together!

I am always considering a 991.1 GT3 but then I think would I enjoy a 997 more from a driving experience on U.K. roads.

991.1 GT3s will get cheap in a couple years too can see them around 60-70k as suspect many will fear engine letting go as the ten year warranty will be up on the early cars in a couple of years.

Picking this up tomorrow. Can't wait.

I am looking for a 991 GT3 for the future. As most tend to be low mileage and looked after I am hoping engine issues will be minimal? I am looking forward to seeing the 992 GT3 today as the full reveal is later (16th Feb 21). The 992 is supposed to be very good on UK roads especially with its 'wet' mode, but obviously getting a 992 GT3 will be very hard/expensive for a few years.

Carrickmines? Own an investment property nearby looks familiar but haven't been there in years. Is the IKEA new?

Nice car by the way.

They all drive fine on UK roads, especially if you change from Cup tyres to say PS4S for Winter months or wet track days.
What I meant is the 991 series are quite a bit wider than 997 series, so due to size it just means on some b roads your a little hesitant to go fast due to the size. Driving a 997 for five years on the road I was happy to take it down even narrow back roads, it was never an issue but in a 991/992 you immediately feel the size difference of the car.

Of course the 991/992 will drive better than a 997 and have a lot more nice features. Only reason early 991 GT3's will be cheap is those engines had issues, which Porsche admitted and as such put a 10yr warranty on the cars engine, those warranties will be up in 2023 onwards, hence can see 991 GT3's becoming lesser priced, you can already pick up a 991.1 GT3 today for around 80k if you shop around. So don't think its unrealistic to expect them to be around 70k in another years time.
