I found a reasonable improvement with Eibach Pro springs on mine. Being progressive, I think initial spring rate was a bit lower, which made for a smoother ride.

Don't improve it too much, the stiffness is part of what makes them so fun and lively!

Not much to contribute to this thread car-wise, but maybe I can help answer that curious guy's question. Well, partially - the cement mixer is in my Focus so yes, it most probably can fit in the back of a Golf :).

Just wasn't engaging enough for me to be honest. Engine is fantastic, ride was crashy, which was expected but the gearbox is too lazy for my liking. Without an LSD the car just feels like hard work to do anything other than being a good cruiser with a very occasional blast. I don't drive for work and so rather have something more engaging when I do drive. I've been spoilt having come out of an F type with the ZF 8 speed, which is perhaps the best gearbox I've had the pleasure of using.

It can be specced but it's oddly not all that common which I guess tells you how many were bought to actually be driven. It's pretty frustrating. Almost got an aftermarket one put in, but given the rest of the car just decided to change.

Lovely!

What makes the 997 so enjoyable is the size, they are small by modern car standards, particular compared to a 991 series and they are now holding money and in some cases strengthening, good on its been a 2006 less engine issues, only worry is bore scoring.
