Show Us Your Motors!

Your Supra is awesome of course, but I have a nostalgic fondness for old Fiestas. Never owned one, but all my mates did when we were younger, so have happy memories of bumbling around in them :D

Theres a Supra?

The black one right?

We're talking about the Volvo Nath posted. :p

(I do like the MK5, interested to see it with its new shoes when you get them!)

I have added to my Mazda collection. No cylinders this time.....9k of pure petrol and oil consuming madness.

Hi there

Great progress on the Corvette today, fitted a set of Billstein HD B6 dampers all round in the hope it will help the harsh ride and wow what a vast improvement, the car actually dampens now and rides more how I’d expect it too, great comfort and still handles and corners nicely. Ride and handling spot on I’ll be keeping the factory leaf spring now and also been told my Corvette might have the rare Gymkhana handling pack which explains why it was a tad firm but a set of quality dampers made world of difference. Also removed the front poly swaybar links and fitted factory rubber ones which no doubt helps.

Also been tying down any loose cables, plastic panels down etc in a battle to fight squeaks and rattles and can now say the interior has stopped squeaking with the use of some UHMV tape is right places so interior is much better now and car is quite a joy to drive.

Heard my power steering grumble earlier as putting garage so fluid must be low as the PS RAM is leaking, replacement now arrived so might have a go at refreshing the power steering RAM and all hoses tomorrow and fresh fluid, I believe Dexron II/III is fine and I’ve a bottle of III in garage.

Love driving this car just makes me feel so relaxed and it’s so easy, I’m not gonna push it hard but it will drive down a backroad at 60-70 and corners don’t trouble it so does seem their is some truth that Corvette are quite competent handlers even the old ones, but I remember been a passenger in a C5 that was immensely impressive and then nearly buying a C6 Z06 with the 7l.

Couple of photos, check my Instagram for me, StangUK:

Paint has come up well after a hand polishing, will take a machine polisher to it in future once I’ve checked it’s Autobrite how to best approach it with it been fibreglass body as it’s far easier to burn the paint, might just let them do it.

Gonna sort PS next, then new track rod ends and new rear camber arms and then take it for an alignment as it wonders a bit on the road around a hundred so think toe might be a bit out or just an age thing, brakes are superb!

Once all done I’ll investigate giving it a proper voice with some exhaust changes or electric cut outs for open headers on demand. Will speak with JP Exhaust. :)

Once that is done Tegiwa guys want to do a free power run for me in their new MAHA MSR500 RWD/FWD dyno so shall video that. Am hoping the car is around 220-250HP as it feels quite strong for the big heavy beast it is. I may then look at doing some engine work that does not visually change the car in anyway but take it towards 300-350HP, no idea what 0-60 is at present my guess is 6.5-8.5s but be nice to get it around 5.5-6.5s which for something this old is rapid, the TH350 auto box is flawless so smooth and quick for its age. I can see why in USA so many owners still daily them and my economy seems to be around 12mpg.

Oh Jaguar Specialist is gonna try and bring back to life the AC system as says it’s similar to old classic Jaguars so are willing to give it a try and if it’s not got a leak should sort it.

How do you go about polishing a car which is stickered and has pinstripes and colour transitions? Or is it all clearcoated over the top?

You mask them up, surely common sense or use a smaller polisher on those parts and go round, patience is key as with all machine polishing. :p

The silver and black is all paint and the polishing would mainly focus on black as that is where you get the depth, paint is superb just the bonnet that could get some extra depth. Again just masking tape the pin stripe where it starts as only pinstripe and writing is decals.

But if I have a go myself it shall be the bonnet where I feel it could gain some dept as rest of car has great finish.

After I spent 3 hours using a new wax product then next day the rain comes but it rolls off like water on a ducks back ;)
