You know that feeling when you break-up with someone and then years later bump back into them and they've gained 20 stone, shaved their head and gotten facial tattoo's and, rather than walking away happy that you've dodged a bullet, you instead walk away feeling sad wondering what had happened to them in your time apart for them to end up like this?
Well that was my weekend folks. I bought a stock Nissan R34 GTT Skyline from Japan way back in 2003 where I arranged everything whilst I was in stationed in Saudi during Gulf War 2 using my 15min a week internet allowance (rather than contacting home, sorry family!). Over the next 4 years I took that stock car and made it something truly unique in the UK, with so much one off and custom parts that it had a few magazine features done about it (both paper and online). The amount of love and care I poured into that car left a deep scar when I eventually sold it in 2007 and I'd always wondered what happened next to the car, something I'd not done with any other I'd owned.
I knew the basic story from seeing a few ebay adverts pop-up and friends on Skyline forums mentioning seeing it about at "cruises" etc and effectively the new owner sold it on within a few months to start his own business and then it had passed on rapidly between a few different owners before being sold to someone in Ireland for drifting and thats where I though the story ended. Until this weekend where a completely random search brought the story a little closer up to date as I found a 2016 advert.
I'd done drifting myself, I knew other drifters and I know it's hard on a car so when I found a For Sale advert I was expecting some battle scars but Oh Boy I wasn't expecting this. You see, this was car as it looked when it was sold -
and years later the advert showed it looks like this -
and all I could think initially was .....................
Then came the denial phase "nope that not my car, the mirrors are wrong, the sub/amp in the boot is missing, the reg is wrong" etc but once I saw the engine bay, again filled with a few unique/custom/prototype only parts that were only made for my car, I knew the truth
Literally everything that made this car different from the "usual" R34 and/or Drift cars had been removed, sold, stripped away. I mean even down to simply refitting the horrible OEM mirrors back on..........who does that!!!! (drifters who need to see behind them for tandem and the modified Ganadors I had were tiny, I know but still
![Big Grin :D :D](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/biggrin.gif)
).
To be fair once I'd sold the car I obviously lose all rights to complain about what the new seller does but that was my weekend, finding out my once amazing ex had become something I couldn't look at with thinking about crying
Here's the advert on Japimports with lots more pictures -
