Show Us Your Motors!

Aye, we had one of the first off the production line in 1993.
Had a 5dr 1.8XT from new for 7 years, no trouble at all.

Although to be fair, the facelifts hardly change it that much ;)
Ours was older than that though, didn't even have the chrome surround on the Lion.

well, the back is the biggest improvement though changes imo, phase 1-2 is biggg 2-3 is teeny changes (no black plastic, round fogs, no rear window rubber, more airbags, silver interior bits (gearknob too), no plastic strip on boot.) Quite glad i got a 3 tbh, although 1's are faster.

Airbgas? Pah!

The 3 is the best though, I was just surprised at just how dated these things look. Shame, as it means I'm getting old :(

Variable redline? Wossat for then? My nerd sense is tingling
Yea the rev limit changes as the engine heats up. The Semi auto gearbox is sweet too, sports mode is good and manual is fun.
Sometimes theres shopping and little Johnny, plus a deep puddle in waitrose car park to contend with, its all starting to make sense now isnt it
Those deep puddles are indeed a menace :D

Trivia. The engine in the X5 4.6iS is the same as you'll find in the Alpina B10 V8. It also has E39 M5 clocks complete with variable redline fitted as standard, the only non M power car to have these.

They were going to give the X5 the same engine as the M5 of that year but had to modify the plans a little as it didnt need to be just as peaky engine so more torque is available lower down the rev range.
For reference, I have 3 children, both my wife and I refuse to drive a people carrier (personal preference) the X5 was a perfect fit on the rear bench for 3 car seats too, not many cars can claim that. The A8 was a consideration but the missus wanted estoril blue, I wanted a big V8. Nice compromise!
Its funny as everytime there is a hater on the road, I never get to see the backs of their heads ;)

Nice, I take it they've dropped the allegations against you at work then?

Which of those is yours though as you appear to have posted two different cars?

The picture is the car I've purchased but the clip was just a taster of the sound it makes, once it's finished having the exhaust fitted that is. It's also being fully detailed including machine polished too.
