Show Us Your Motors!

What do you do when your first car, that you've spent a fair few quid on the motor for, starts rusting away, as all old Ford do?

Build a Westfield out of it so it's spirit lives on!

I built the Westfield between June 2006 and Oct 2008 when it sucessfully passed it's SVA test.

Since then I've done over 20k in it, mostly commuting to ork (it wasn't supposed to be a commuting car but it's so damn fun I can't help myself), a trip to the Nurburgring and numerous road trips around Wale and Scotland. Would you believe, in all that time I've never once been caught out in the rain in it?

Engine as 2ltr Pinto bored to 2.2ltrs, High torque cam, ported head, steel flywheel, arp fasterner kit (rod bolts, big ends and head stud), arp gasket set, Suzuki GSXR throttle bodies run via a Megasquirt V3 ECU, Zex 4port fogger Nitrous kit.

Power is a measured 142bhp and 136lb/ft at the wheels without Nitrous, good for a measured 4.4s 0-60mph and a 12.6s 1/4 mie. I've not run Pod with nitrous yet. Weight is 605kg.

It's currently off the road for the winter whilst I fit a 220bhp 2.3 Cosworth Duratec, although a brand new 2.9ltr 24v V6 Cosworth BOB engine has just come into my possesion, so a slight rework of plans may be in order!

Thats awesome. Going to be a serious beast with 220bhp, hehe, but why not go for a smaller, more revy engine?

Nothing. The [Grande] Puntos are good cars.

Having just been on holiday in it I must say that it is a brilliant second car for us. Comfortable and economical, pretty good on the motorway as it has cruise plus Jane can sit in a sauna whilst I sit in the cool with the dual zone climate. On the one sunny afternoon we had getting the top open was great. The cottage we were staying in had plenty of space to park but a VERY tight access road, in my car that would have been a PITA but the Punto was much easier to squeeze in and out.

As Fox hasn't responded I'll assume it was yet another one of his throw away pointless comments.
