My '97 Scooby:

Prodrive handling pack (STI/Prodrive springs and shocks, uprated anti-roll bar) and Full stainless steel de-cat exhaust, Dawes boost controller set to 1.2bar, Forge VTA dumpvalve, Induction kit, Samco hoses, meshed bumper and grille. Around 270 BHP.

Have you ever been into Yate before? I swear I've seen that car!

finally replaced my late rex this week. i still love them in black and only went to look around this one to make me more certain of waiting for the perfect black one to come up, but once i saw it in the flesh i had to do it...

more pics to follow in next month or two once i put a couple of things how i prefer them and find the right wheels (the ones i loved on my black one won't suit it, and i keep umming and arring over black deep bbs style with polished lip)

Here's my MX5:

It's a 98' mk2 1.8i (not a sport). I found the suspension on the sport just a little too hard for my liking, so am more than happy with the std 1.8, which has exactly the same engine.
The spec is completely basic, doesn't have central locking, LSD or ABS. Not that I'm worried as that keeps the weight down. It'll never compete with an Elise/VX220, but then it does have carpets, isn't deafening on motorways, doesn't leak and does have an effective heater.

Frankly I love it. Clearly it's a compromise car, not that fast in a straightline, not as economical as a diesel, noisier at speed than any hard top and only has space in the boot for 2-3 soft bags. Excluding that, it's wonderful.
It's relatively lightweight (1065kg) meaning that it's lighter than most newer hot hatches, the power delivery is clean and "adequate", doesn't require revving to death like a VTEC and most importantly has body control and poise to die for.
I spent last Sun driving through Wales. In total was a 9 hour drive and I still got out feeling refreshed. The heater was warm enough to still drive around in Jan with the roof down until nightfall and the controls light and precise enough to not leave you knackered. Fuel consumption is 30-35mpg and it's LOTS of fun at speeds around the speed limit. Hard to think of a better small car.
