This here is my car. She's a 1967 Pontiac Catalina Ventura. It's not my only car but it is my first so it holds a special place in the garage.
That's my car next to my robot in an artfully blurry shot.
That shot is from 2 years ago. It's a .030" over Pontiac 400 (6669cc). She runs a Edelbrock AFB knockoff 850 cfm carb. Purists say that there's nothing better than a Holley double pumper but tuning AFBs is effortless. The valvetrain is as such: .490" intake lift .512" exhaust lift. I can't remember the duration of each off the top of my head, but suffice it to say it's pretty healthy.
No, I haven't taken it to the track so I don't have any ETs to post.
I'll have to take some new pictures becasue I've got new wheels since this shot was taken. The new ones are polished aluminum and are far more purddy.
It's my car for driving around when it's warm out (I stole the heater core out of it). It sports the very rare factory console with floor shifter and buckets. It's essentially the same group of folks that built the robot in the second photo. I'm at something of an impasse with it. I got it when I was in high school and I began the heavy work on it. Now that I don't have the garage space for it it gets lonely. I'm hanging on to it, but I haven't done much in the past 6 months or so.
Stuff I've done:
complete engine rebuild by me at my old boss' shop including
-0.030" overbore
-hypereutectic pistons
-new seals on everythng
-new valves
-new valvesprings
-new pushrods
-5 angle valve-grind
-milled heads
-decked block
-ported heads
1 3/4" primary 3" collector headers
true dual exhaust with H pipe
complete transmission rebuild (TH400)
all new suspension rubber all around, now polyurethane
new wheels
new tires (several times
)
all new brakes
new radio
new custom fabricated windshield wiper system (the old one appeared to be made of coat hangers)
had a bassy radio in it for a while, a pair of Audiobahn AW1208Ts running at 8kW peak, 4kW RMS at 2 Ohms. It's long gone though.
too much smaller stuff to list
I really have gotten a long way, but I still have a lot left to go. Maybe when I get a real job that pays real money I'll get to finish it.
