Show Us Your Motors!

Picked up my new car yesterday to replace my SLK which turned out to be quite unreliable...

So here it is, 2004 MX5 1.8 Euphonic with Hardtop, 45000miles on the clock.

Running on 3x brand new Nankangs and a Nexen tyre... Going to Costcos tomorrow for 4x Michelin PS3 if they have them in stock.

That looks in fantastic condition. What made you go for that? Are you planning on using it as a daily or sunshine queen, keeping it standard? What engine has it got in it?

Thanks! I was just wanting a new car as my current one is shagged. This car was quite a few hundred pounds cheaper to insure than any other car I looked at, and won it on ebay for just over £500. I love 80s Jap cars so really I was just looking in the right place at the right time. It's perfect I love it!

It's a 1.5 carb. For the first time its a car I didn't have any instant plans with other than just clean it up, but I want to enjoy its standardness for now. If I do anything it will be reversible such as wheels + suspension. Lotus Eclat turbines are a direct fit for these and look awesome. But thats for the future, for now it's gonna stay as it is :)

Oh and yeah it will be my main car. It may be too nice to stack miles up on it, but at the same time its much cheaper to run than anything else so it's a chance I am willing to take.

To give some idea of how clean it is. I am the second owner from new, and nothing in the engine has ever been replaced. Only thing changed is the battery. Even the leads are the originals from 1987 when it came out the factory. Never been welded and never rusted. Only downside was the old guy who owned it last was a bit dirty and was a smoker so the seats are a bit grubby, but that isn't exactly a major problem!

Nice, I'm also a fan of old jap metal. Or more retro cars in general. When you see originals in such nice condition it seems a shame to drive them, but then you get the feeling that it's being wasted just sitting up. I wouldn't even do anything with the suspension or wheels, just keep it in tip-top condition.

At least you know he didn't smoke too much in it as it's got such low mileage :p
