Footwell lights are almost certainly there, along with the holders. On my 2008 Focus all was missing was the bulbs. Have a peek around the footwells with a torch, hard to miss when you're down there. Will be towards the centre of the car (ie. left hand side of footwell in drivers footwell.)

The pre-facelift came without the wiring looms for the cruise control (except for 2.0L Ghia's) and footwell lights. All pre-facelifts came with the variable wiper stalk control wiring looms - however I have this feature already. I read somewhere someone had retrofitted elctric heated mirrors, like the Ghias.

For its time the mk1 Focus had a lot of kit:
Electric adjustable seats
Electric heated wind screens
Electric adjustable/heated mirrors
Heated seats (some models)
Variable wiper speed control (pretty rare on a regular hatchback back in 1998)

Peugeot hatchbacks already had rain sensing wipers in 1998... the Focus made do with a variable speed control and you think thats excellent for its time?!

I didn't know that. Regardless, that list is still a good list of features for a regular hatchback at the time (and even now compared to some hatchbacks).

It really isn't. None of that stuff is standard on the base model.

My '98 Megane had variable speed wipers too. I think it was pretty standard for hatchbacks with a half-decent spec

I'm not overly impressed by the spec of the Focus, it's pretty much the bare minimum that I'd expect in a modern car.

The spoiler's standard as far as I know, I have seen a couple of accords with similar spoilers. And yes I did change the radio myself, you have remove dashboard panel though which is a bit tedious but not difficult.

No, it was pretty poor. Even the Focus Ghia had windup windows in the back until the facelift.

Focus ST has windup windows in the back aswell

Not sure if the facelifts acquired electric...
